Shanghai People's Square Accommodation
JI Hotel
A quiet and clean JI Hotel near People's Square

Hello, this is Baeji (ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈)
Today, I'm sharing about a budget-friendly hotel I stayed at in Shanghai,
my review of the **super clean and lovely JI Hotel**!
Shanghai, a city with affordable prices and delicious food aplenty,
my goal was a budget-friendly trip, so I made sure to book affordable accommodation,
successfully saving my travel expenses to around ~$483!
Make sure to check the location and hygiene before you book ◡̈

1. Shanghai Hotels
People usually visit Shanghai for a 2 to 3-night itinerary,
and essential stops include Disneyland, Yuyuan Garden, The Bund, Xintiandi, and more.
Among these, **booking accommodation near Disneyland can be a real struggle due to the distance**,
and among the locations on the map, the area near People's Square
is the best for easily visiting various tourist attractions.

I don't recommend accommodation directly in front of People's Square as it can be noisy,
so a place with a bit of distance is better for a quiet stay.
It's definitely a neighborhood with good public safety, so I was pleased with how secure it felt!
So, I chose my Shanghai accommodation based on these criteria!
📌 People's Square area + hotel with no noise reviews
Actually, I also considered the Jinjiang Metropolo YMCA Hotel,
but the JI Hotel was closer to Xintiandi and had larger rooms,
so my final choice was the Shanghai JI Hotel!

2. JI Hotel
In Shanghai, only designated hotels are allowed to host foreign guests, so it's impossible to stay at non-designated hotels.
It's safer to book a chain hotel that is explicitly permitted to host foreigners from the start.

The JI Hotel is a large chain with over 6 locations in Shanghai alone,
and it's a well-managed hotel that welcomes foreign guests.

Among them, the JI Hotel Nanjing Road branch offers:
✔️Late-night check-in available (24 hours)
✔️A substantial hotel with 199 rooms
✔️Affordable prices (this was the biggest factor... haha!)
These points appealed to me more than other branches,
and since our itinerary involved checking in after visiting Disneyland,
seeing that late-night check-in was possible, we booked it right away.

📍 Chongqing North Road No.212 |
For the JI Hotel Nanjing Road branch, it's convenient to pinpoint it on Amap here:
Lianhua Supermarket
(Chongqing North Road Branch)

The biggest advantage was its walkable distance to many places,
and it's hard to find a budget accommodation as clean as this one.
There were no hygiene issues, so I felt completely at ease booking it.
Prices for 9/18 (Fri) - 9/19 (Sat)
Platform | Price | Booking Link |
Agoda | ~$69 | |
Trip.com | ~$76 | |
Yeogi Eottae | ~ около 83 $ |
While there isn't a huge price difference,
Agoda, which offers free cancellation, was the cheapest,
so in my case, I always book in advance with a free cancellation option, just in case! hehe
Because if you wait until closer to the date to book, prices just keep going up,
so it's cheaper to book when there's still a lot of time left before your trip.

3. Huazhu Superior Room

From the entrance of JI Hotel Nanjing Road Branch,
the lobby felt clean and refreshing.
I expected it to be old and chaotic since it's a Chinese hotel,
but it was surprisingly quiet and clean... lol
The design also felt modern and state-of-the-art.

During check-in, as a foreigner,
I submitted my passport and registered before receiving the room key.
(A little nervous because it's China...)
There's also a small cafe in the corner of the lobby,
which you can use before unpacking your luggage!

Our room was a Huazhu Superior Room type,
and at 23 square meters, it was spacious enough for two people!
Amenities included toothbrushes, toothpaste, a hairdryer, hand wash, body wash, shampoo, a shower cap, and more.
It was also convenient to have two large towels, two small towels, and even a foot towel.
Amenities List |
Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Hairdryer, Shampoo, Body Wash, Hand Wash, Shower Cap, Towels |
There was no hair treatment in the bathroom, so it's a good idea to bring your own!

The tea ceremony set on the tea table was also pretty.
Honestly, even if you don't use it, it adds to the room's vibe, you know? 🖤
China's weather tends to be humid, but the JI Hotel beds were fresh and dry,
allowing for a comfortable and refreshing night's sleep without any dampness.
Thanks to its generous size, I'd also recommend it for family trips, including those with children ꔛ
If you're planning a trip to Shanghai, definitely look into JI Hotels!
4. Nearby Attractions
JI Hotel has many hot spots within walking distance.
Xintiandi is within walking distance, so it was great for a morning stroll to enjoy brunch,
and it's convenient for sightseeing, leading straight from the nearby Yu Garden to The Bund.

We could enjoy 'Half a Drink' nearby and play until late,
and the great thing about Shanghai is that bars stay open late,
so you can easily eat Haidilao until 3 AM! Absolutely possible.

Even going to Disneyland by taxi was affordable,
and because the location is near People's Square, taxis were easy to catch,
making it a comfortable trip.

Shanghai, where we thoroughly enjoyed Xintiandi and Disneyland,
is perfect for a 2-night itinerary,
so if you're heading to Shanghai, definitely download Gaode Ditu (Amap) and
book your accommodation near People's Square ദ്ദി,,-`_´-)
✔️Overall Review
Considering price, location, and accessibility to hot spots,
JI Hotel Shanghai is top-tier value for money.
Key spots are within walking distance from People's Square,
it's convenient to come back after enjoying a beer in the evening,
and it's quiet, so the surroundings aren't noisy at all.
Book the clean and value-for-money JI Hotel,
and have a smart and memorable trip to Shanghai!

According to the article, check-in at JI Hotel Nanjing Road Branch is at 4 PM, and check-out is at 10 AM. This branch also allows 24-hour late-night check-in, making it suitable for itineraries with late arrivals after visiting Disneyland.
The Huazhu Superior Room provides a toothbrush, toothpaste, hairdryer, hand wash, body wash, shampoo, and shower cap. Additionally, two large towels, two small towels, and a foot towel are available. However, conditioner is not provided, so it's recommended to bring your own.
Yes, JI Hotel Nanjing Road Branch is located within walking distance of Xintiandi. It's a pleasant distance for a stroll to enjoy morning brunch, and it's also convenient for continuing sightseeing from the nearby Yu Garden to The Bund.
For those dates, Agoda offered prices around ~$69, Trip.com around ~$76, and Yeogi Eottae around ~$83. Agoda, with its free cancellation policy, was the most affordable option.
