How to Register Your Japan Entry Declaration on Visit Japan Web
My Fukuoka Entry Experience

Before you embark on your trip to Japan, it's absolutely essential
to fill out your entry declaration form on the Visit Japan Web in advance.
In the early days of Visit Japan's implementation,
paper entry declaration forms were sometimes distributed on flights, but now they are rarely given out.
So, if you don't register beforehand,
your entry process could take much longer.
Today, I'll simply walk you through **how to complete your Japan entry declaration form**
**on the Visit Japan Web** and share **my recent entry experience in Fukuoka.**
First, to register for Visit Japan Web,
you need to access the official website below.
Then, a login screen like the one above will appear.
If you've used Visit Japan Web before,
simply log in and proceed with the next steps. If this is your first time traveling to Japan, please create an account first.
Next, register your personal information.
This includes basic details like your passport number and name. It's super convenient because once you register it, you can simply recall and use it for future trips!
If you're traveling with family,
make sure to register their information here too.
Once all passenger information is registered,
click 'New Registration for Entry/Return'.
For the trip name, you can simply enter any name you like for easy identification.
For the mandatory field 'Scheduled Date of Arrival in Japan,'
select your entry date. For 'Airline Name' and 'Flight Number,' you'll need to enter your flight details.
You'll find this information, typically a combination of English letters and numbers,
on your e-ticket for your booked flight.
Next, you'll need to fill in your accommodation details in Japan.
You can enter the information for your first hotel, and once you input the 7-digit postal code,
the remaining details will be filled in automatically.
Then, write the hotel name in English, and for the phone number, you can enter your contact number in an appropriate international format.
Once you're done entering the details, review the information and click 'Register Planned Entry' to proceed.
Then, as shown in the photos, you'll see a tab titled 'Preparation for Entry/Return to Japan'.
From there, click on 'Immigration and Customs Declaration'.
The information from the previous steps, which you entered when registering your entry/return schedule, will be automatically pre-filled.
On page 3, you'll need to select your reason for entering Japan and your planned period of stay.
For the purpose of entry, choose 'Tourism', and for the period of stay, enter the duration from your arrival date to your departure date.
Next up, you'll need to answer some questions.
Most of these questions won't apply to the average tourist, so you can generally just select 'None'.
Just a heads-up, though: if you select 'None' and something turns out to be a violation later, it could lead to bigger headaches. So, it's a good idea to quickly read through each question before making your choices.
Keep in mind that things like meat, vegetables, and fruits are strictly prohibited, so it's really best not to bring any food from your home country.
Finally, just double-check all the info you've entered, tick the box confirming 'The above information is true and accurate,' and you're all set to register!
Once that's done, you'll see 'Registration Complete' for both immigration and customs, just like in the picture, and your QR code will pop up!

Next up, I'll dive into my personal experience entering Fukuoka after getting that Japan immigration declaration form filled out in advance.
After landing at Fukuoka Airport, it was a straightforward walk to the immigration hall – no shuttle trains or extra rides needed!
We spotted a Visit Japan recognition device along the way, but we just bypassed it and kept moving towards the inspection area.
The immigration line stretched out quite a bit, but for my 6 PM flight, the wait for inspection was surprisingly only about 20 minutes.
Even if you skipped the preliminary scan with a separate device, you'll still get your Visit Japan QR code recognized at a kiosk right here before your actual inspection.
After that process wraps up, an alphabet will flash on the screen, directing you to the correct line for your immigration inspection.
Including the wait, immigration inspection took about 25-30 minutes, and honestly, it felt quicker than I anticipated! Just a heads-up though, Japanese immigration times can really swing depending on the day and hour, so this is just for reference!

You should enter information based on your first hotel stay. Simply input the hotel's 7-digit postal code, and the remaining information will be filled in automatically. The hotel name should be entered in English, and the phone number in the 8210~ format.
We waited in the immigration line for about 20 minutes. Before the actual inspection, we used a kiosk to scan our Visit Japan Web information, and then proceeded with the inspection. The entire immigration process, including waiting time, took a total of 25-30 minutes.
Most items do not apply to general tourists, so you can select 'None'. However, items such as meat, vegetables, and fruits are prohibited from being brought into Japan, so you should be careful not to bring such foods from your home country.
