Visit Japan Web Guide 2026: Immigration & Customs QR
Streamline your Japan trip in 2026! Learn how to easily register for Visit Japan Web, create your account, and get your essential immigration QR code.

As you prepare for your exciting adventure to Japan,
just as important as booking your flights and accommodation,
there's one more essential step you'll want to take care of in advance!
That's registering with Visit Japan Web.
If it's your first time using it, you might find yourself wondering where to begin,
or how to find your immigration QR code.
It can definitely be a little confusing!
But don't worry! In this guide, for all you global explorers heading to Japan,
I'll walk you through how to use Visit Japan Web, step by step! :)

1. What is Visit Japan Web?
Visit Japan Web is Japan's Digital Agency's official web service
that allows you to pre-register the necessary immigration and customs declaration information
needed when entering Japan.
By entering your information before your trip,
you can use the registered QR code upon arrival in Japan
to smoothly complete your entry procedures.
It's accessible via the official website,
and both creating an account and registering are completely free.
Please be aware that there are sometimes scam websites
that charge a fee for this process, so always proceed with caution! ⭐

2. Create Your Account
First, head over to the official Visit Japan Web site
and create a brand new account.
You'll just need to enter your email address and password,
then verify using the confirmation code sent to your email.
If you're already a seasoned traveler with an account, no need to create a new one;
simply log in!
And a pro tip: if for some reason you can't get this ready before you leave home
and find yourself needing to rush through it upon arrival,
be aware that Wi-Fi at Japanese airports can sometimes be slow.
So, I highly recommend securing your internet connection in advance!

3. Register Your Personal Information
Once you've logged in, it's time to register your personal details.
For me, since my information was already registered from a previous trip,
I went straight to registering my upcoming entry plan.
If you've registered your information before,
you can simply click 'Proceed with Registration' without needing to reference previous data.
For new users, just have your passport handy,
and follow the on-screen instructions to input your details.

4. Register Your Entry Schedule
Now, let's register your exciting entry schedule for Japan!
Simply match the information shown on your screen with your travel itinerary,
and carefully input each detail as guided.
You can easily find your accommodation's address and phone number
on your booking confirmation or in the official accommodation information.
If you're unsure about a contactable phone number within Japan,
it's perfectly fine to use your own personal phone number.

Finally, after a thorough review,
you'll register your anticipated arrival and departure.

5. Filling Out Your Immigration and Customs Declaration
Once you've registered your arrival plans,
select your specific travel itinerary
and head over to the Immigration and Customs Declaration section.

Following the prompts on your screen,
you'll enter your travel purpose, details about your stay,
and all the required information for your customs declaration.

When it comes to your customs declaration, please ensure you accurately declare items you are actually bringing into the country,
based on whether they are subject to declaration.
It's crucial to be precise!

Once you've filled in all the fields,
double-check all your entered information
and then you're all set to complete your registration!

6. Your Immigration QR Code: Ready to Go!
After completing your registration, navigate back to Visit Japan Web,
select your specific travel itinerary,
and find your combined Immigration and Customs Declaration QR code.
Good news! The QR code you'll use for both immigration and customs declaration
is now unified into a single code!

When you're at a Japanese airport and going through the procedures,
simply present the QR code displayed on your screen.
To be fully prepared for situations where internet connectivity might not be perfectly smooth,
make sure you can access your registration details and QR code
by preparing them in advance before your departure.
Feel free to screenshot your QR code and use that too! ^^

7. Don't Forget Your Internet Connection Before Your Japan Trip!
Once your Visit Japan Web registration is all sorted,
it's smart to also prepare your data plan for when you arrive in Japan.
From searching maps and finding the perfect restaurant,
to checking transportation and confirming your reservations,
you'll find yourself using the internet far more than you might expect during your trip.
Especially if you want instant internet access as soon as you land at the airport,
preparing an eSIM before you depart is an excellent idea.
