Daiso is one of those spots you'll likely find yourself visiting at least once.
With such wallet-friendly prices,
you'll find yourself browsing everything from travel essentials to tasty snacks,
and before you know it, items are making their way into your shopping basket.
And the bonus? Even a 1000 yen haul makes you feel like you've struck gold!
In this post, I'll be sharing some of my top Daiso picks and a shopping list,
all items I personally spotted and loved in-store.
Before we dive in,
please note that product availability may vary by store,
and some items may cost 200 yen or 300 yen.
1. Self-Standing Rice Paddle
110 yen including tax
With its wide handle end,
this rice paddle can stand upright after use.
It's embossed so rice grains don't stick easily,
and I even stock up on these for my own kitchen!
2. Daiso Cooler Bags
Price varies by size
Fukuoka, with its short flight times,
is a great travel destination for bringing back refrigerated items like pudding, natto, and ice cream.
Japanese Daiso offers a wide variety of cooler bags
in different sizes.

3. Japanese Daiso Tarpaulin Bags
Price varies by size or design
When your luggage is bursting after a shopping spree,
and you don't quite want to buy another suitcase!
These tarpaulin bags are incredibly useful.
They're spacious enough to carry any extra items you accumulate on your trip,
perfect for bringing back those extra souvenirs,
and can even double as a reusable shopping bag back home.
4. Japanese Coin Holder
110 yen including tax
In Japan, you'll often find yourself using a lot of coins,
making a coin holder a super useful travel essential.
It lets you organize coins from 1 yen to 500 yen,
keeping them neatly separated by denomination,
so it's easy to pull out the right change when you're paying.
5. Japanese Daiso Figure Cases & Gacha Storage Boxes
When you bring back gacha toys or figures from Japan,
the question of how to store them at home often arises.
Daiso offers figure cases and
gacha storage boxes in various sizes,
perfect for displaying your collection without worrying about dust.
📍You might occasionally find similar products at Korean Daiso stores,
but Japanese Daiso generally has a wider variety.
6. Cleaning Tool Holder

This holder attaches to the wall, perfect for organizing awkward cleaning tools like brooms or mops that are hard to lean upright.
It can also be used to store umbrellas or canes,
helping you keep floor space neat and tidy.
7. Daiso Sanrio Laundry Bags
You'll find cute Sanrio character laundry bags featuring My Melody, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, Kuromi, and more.
They're perfect for washing delicates or small clothing items,
and with their adorable character designs,
they make super cute gifts too! ♥️
8. Japanese Daiso Character Pouches
From Kirby to My Melody, Kuromi, and Pompompurin, there's a huge variety of character pouches.
They're great for holding small personal items like cosmetics, chargers, or earphones,
and since they're more budget-friendly than buying them at a dedicated Sanrio store,
they're a fantastic buy.
9. Sanrio Bath Bombs
You can also find Sanrio character bath bombs featuring Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, and more.
Availability of Crayon Shin-chan and Doraemon bath bombs may vary by store.
When you drop them in water, the bath bombs dissolve,
revealing a random figurine inside.
It feels like you're using a bath product
and getting a character prize at the same time,
so if you love Sanrio, it'll be hard to just pass by! 🥹
10. Sanrio Lifestyle Goods / Stationery
This section had a wide variety of daily necessities,
including hair ties, wristbands,
acrylic coasters, and nail files.
Small Sanrio goods and stationery items,
like stickers, zipper bags, pouches, and card cases,
were also gathered in one spot.
This was a corner where many teenagers were eagerly filling their baskets,
so if you're visiting with your teenage daughter,
I recommend checking out Daiso first before going to a more expensive Sanrio shop.
11. Umaibo
You can also buy Umaibo, Japan's famous national snack,
individually at Daiso.
It might vary by store, but at the branch I visited,
you could mix and match 7 pieces for ~$1,
making it perfect for trying out different flavors you're curious about.
12. Daiso Dried Sweet Potatoes, Shelled Chestnuts
Including tax ~$1
These are the dried sweet potatoes and shelled chestnuts I stock up on every time I go to Japan,
because I love root vegetables.
They're snacks that are quite pricey in Korea,
but at Daiso, they're affordable at ~$1 each,
so I always grab several!
13. Japanese Daiso Orihiro Konjac Jelly
Orihiro Konjac Jelly, a staple on Japanese shopping lists,
was also available at Daiso.
With various flavors like grape, peach, and green grape,
they're great for snacking during your trip or stocking up on.
From what I saw,
Daiso was cheaper than Don Quijote.
14. Small-sized Snacks
I tend to open a big bag of snacks,
eat a little, and leave the rest,
so I prefer small-sized snacks.
You'll find a variety of popular Japanese snacks here,
including Karamucho, Caramel Corn, and Sapporo Potato.
15. Japanese Daiso Throat Lozenges & Candies
Generally around ~$1 including tax
There's a diverse selection, from Ryukakusan throat lozenges, which are very popular in Japan,
to salt tomato candies.
Personally, while many people say salt tomato candies are delicious,
they weren't really to my taste.
16. Daiso Grease Stain Cleaner
Including tax ~$1
This grease stain cleaner is fantastic for tackling kitchen grime,
and I've recommended it on my previous Japan travel shopping lists.
It's a product used for areas where grease tends to build up, like around IH stovetops, gas ranges, and range hoods,
and it cleans incredibly well, so I highly recommend it! 👍
Japanese Daiso isn't a huge financial burden,
making it a great place not just for items you need during your trip,
but also for picking up small souvenirs.
From travel essentials and Sanrio goods to snacks and cleaning supplies,
there's surprisingly a lot to see, making it a bit of an "ant hell" (a place you can't easily leave once you're in), just like Daiso in Korea.

Items such as the self-standing rice paddle, Japanese coin holder, cleaning tool holder, dried sweet potato, peeled chestnuts, and grease stain remover are all 110 yen including tax. Some throat lozenges and candies, like Ryukakusan throat candy, can also generally be purchased for around 110 yen.
In Fukuoka, which has a short flight time, it's good to buy refrigerated products such as pudding, natto, and ice cream using a Daiso cooler bag. Daiso offers a variety of cooler bags in different sizes.
At Daiso Japan, figure cases and gacha storage boxes are available in a wider variety of sizes. While the same products can be found at Daiso Korea, Daiso Japan had more options in terms of types.
At the branch I visited, you could mix and match flavors and buy 7 Umaibo for 100 yen. It was great for trying out various flavors I was curious about.
