Janghohang Port has become incredibly popular over the last few years, earning its reputation as a premier snorkeling spot in the country.
It's no wonder why so many visitors flock here!

Known as one of Korea's top snorkeling destinations, Janghohang in Samcheok, Gangwon Province, truly shines during the summer months. It's so popular that finding a parking spot during peak summer vacation weekends can be a real challenge!
If you're planning a weekend trip during the summer holidays, we highly recommend arriving bright and early to beat the crowds and secure your spot.
Janghohang Activity Fees

You can refer to the photos for more details on other activities and prices. We highly recommend renting one of the flat benches (평상) for a more comfortable and relaxing experience by the water.
Good to know for transparent kayaking: you don't need to purchase a life vest as they are typically provided with the rental!
You'll also notice the Samcheok Cable Car gliding overhead. While it offers fantastic views, I'm not sure if it's air-conditioned inside – something to consider on a hot day!
I actually visited Janghohang, Samcheok, in late August 2025. Perhaps because it was towards the end of the summer season, the snorkeling crowds were manageable, making it the perfect time for a refreshing dip.
The water was incredibly clear, and I really wished I could have jumped in myself!
While the water might not look extremely deep from above, safety first! Always wear a life vest when enjoying water activities like snorkeling. It's crucial for a safe and enjoyable experience.
During my visit, I was in my early pregnancy, so I couldn't join in the water fun myself. Even just watching everyone else having a blast was exciting!
I'm already dreaming of returning in 2027 with my little one to finally splash around. Visiting in late August 2025 also meant that renting those comfy flat benches was much easier to arrange.
As a pregnant traveler unable to swim, I was a little disappointed that the bridge leading to the gazebo was blocked during my visit. However, I've made a mental note to fully explore it when I return in 2027 or 2028!
After a delightful but brief visit to admire the beautiful ocean views, we quickly headed out from Janghohang, Samcheok.

It's especially great for families traveling with young children, making it a perfect recommendation for your family getaway.

The transparent kayaking experience fee ranges from ~$17 to ~$41. A snorkeling gear set costs ~$9, and you don't need to purchase a separate life jacket when experiencing transparent kayaking.
It's recommended to visit early in the morning, as it can be very crowded on summer vacation weekends, making it difficult to find parking. When I visited in late August last year, there was a moderate number of people snorkeling, and renting flat benches was smooth.
Sol Beach Samcheok is about a 30-minute drive from Janghohang Port. It's recommended as a good place to stay with a baby and is suitable for family trips.
