During my recent trip to Fukuoka, I found myself craving a unique, off-the-beaten-path coastal vibe away from the bustling city streets.

That's when I stumbled upon the incredibly scenic and charming small town of Itoshima!

My Detailed Bus Tour Experience

The adventure kicks off right at Hakata Station, which is super convenient.

The greatest perk of a bus tour? You get to sit back, relax in the A/C, and effortlessly visit remote spots that are normally a huge headache to reach if you don't have a rental car.

Itoshima offers a completely different, laid-back atmosphere compared to the urban hustle of downtown Fukuoka.

Our first stop was a traditional salt factory where they harvest salt from some of the cleanest ocean waters in Japan. There are zero factories or industrial buildings nearby, making the environment incredibly pure.

With nothing but crystal-clear water, endless blue skies, and gentle breezes, it literally felt like stepping into a postcard!

You absolutely have to try their famous salt pudding—it's an exclusive treat you can only get right here.

They also sell various flavored artisanal salts. I picked up a few jars to elevate my home cooking! They make fantastic souvenirs, so I highly recommend grabbing a couple.

My friends and I took tons of photos by the water. I was completely captivated by how different this coastal charm was from Fukuoka City.

Next up, we headed to the famous Sakurai Futamigaura and Palm Beach Gardens.

You can spot the iconic "Couple Rock" right out the bus window. They're named that because the two rocks stand close together, joined by a sacred rope, symbolizing a married couple.

This is Itoshima's most famous landmark, drawing both locals and international tourists year-round.

It's officially ranked as one of Japan's Top 100 Beaches, and the contrast between the white torii gate, the deep blue sea, and the sky is breathtaking.

Literally every angle is an Instagram-worthy shot.

The water was so inviting that my friends and I actually kicked off our shoes to wade in. It was an unforgettable highlight of the trip!

Now I totally understand why this suburban bus tour is considered a must-do when visiting Fukuoka.

In fact, I've made it a tradition to book a day trip out here every time I'm in the area.

While we were snapping pics at the Couple Rock, another traveler asked us to take their photo.

After a fun impromptu photoshoot, we made our way to our next stop: Palm Beach.

Palm Beach is just a short 15-minute walk from the rocks. You can take the bus down, but I highly recommend walking so you can check out the cute street-side cafes along the way.

It has a totally different vibe from the historic Couple Rock area—it genuinely feels like you've been transported to Hawaii!

It's a popular spot for surfers and people coming to watch the sunset.

There are even Hawaiian-themed souvenir shops right on the beach.

We browsed the shops, grabbed some delicious gelato, and just soaked in the ocean views.

Between the colorful murals and the stunning natural scenery, it was the perfect escape from city life.

Next, we visited the famous Palm Tree Swing! I somehow completely forgot to take my own photos here (whoops!), so I'm using a photo from the ticketing site instead.

Our final stop was one of Fukuoka's most iconic spots: Momochi Beach!

If you opt for the afternoon tour, you'll arrive just in time to see Momochi Beach bathed in the breathtaking colors of the sunset.

The atmosphere becomes so romantic and vibrant as the sun goes down. This is exactly why I strongly suggest the afternoon slot if your schedule allows!
