Itoshima Bus Tour Fukuoka Review 2026: Half-Day Escape
Looking for an easy Fukuoka day trip? This Itoshima half-day bus tour costs under $20 and covers the scenic coast, salt pudding, and iconic torii gates.

Fukuoka is a fantastic destination for shopping, dining, and exploring nearby coastal towns.
However, planning a trip to the outskirts of Fukuoka can be challenging.
Renting a car can be expensive, and navigating public transit to the scenic coast is often a hassle.
If you want to balance your city shopping with a scenic coastal escape, a half-day tour is the ultimate life hack!
Today, I’m sharing my experience on the Itoshima half-day bus tour, including booking tips, pricing, and a breakdown of the itinerary.
How to Book & Price Comparison

I booked through the Haru Haru Tour agency.
They offer both morning and afternoon itineraries, and most importantly, the tour is guaranteed to run even if the group size is small.
Platform | Price |
~$18 (with review discount) | |
~$21 |
When I first looked, Klook was slightly cheaper, but MyRealTrip currently offers the best deal. Writing a quick photo review on the platform takes less than a minute and unlocks the discounted rate.

Be sure to compare both booking platforms before you lock in your dates to snag the best price and any active credit card promotions!
Meeting Point
LAWSON Oriental Hotel Fukuoka Store · 4-23 Hakataekichuogai, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka, 812-0012, Japan

The meeting spot is right in front of the Lawson convenience store at Hakata Station.
The guide will meet you there to check your name and guide you to the tour bus.

Pro Tip: Board early and grab a seat on the left side of the bus! You'll get stunning ocean views for most of the drive.
Mataichi Salt Maker - Tottan Workshop (Approx. 20–30 mins)
📍 Mataichi Salt Maker - Tottan Workshop
3757 Shimakeya, Itoshima, Fukuoka 819-1335, Japan

Our first stop was the famous Mataichi Salt Maker, nestled right on the edge of the Itoshima coast.
It's a scenic 10-minute walk from the parking lot to the workshop.

This place is legendary for its handmade salt pudding.
Lines can build up quickly, so head straight to the pudding counter as soon as you arrive, then explore the grounds!

There are rustic wooden benches and viewing platforms overlooking the ocean where you can sit and enjoy your treat.

The pudding is topped with locally harvested sea salt and caramel syrup. The subtle saltiness perfectly cuts through the rich sweetness.
I'm not usually a big dessert person, but this was hands down the best pudding I've ever had in Japan!

Note: You cannot take the glass pudding jars home. Make sure to return them to the sorting bins before you head back to the bus!
Palm Beach & Sakurai Futamigaura (Approx. 1 hour)
PALM BEACH · Japan, 〒819-0202 Fukuoka, Nishi Ward, Nishinoura, 西浦 285-D

Next up is Palm Beach.
Once the bus parks, head straight to Sakurai Futamigaura (the Husband and Wife Rocks). It's about a 10-minute walk along the coast.
Since tour stops operate on a tight schedule, make sure to walk quickly so you don't run out of time.

The iconic white Torii gate standing in the ocean is the ultimate photo spot!
Pro Tip: If you see other tourists from your bus group, ask them to take your photo. We all know how to get the best angles!

On a clear day, the contrast between the white gate and the deep blue ocean is breathtaking. It's easy to see why Itoshima is Fukuoka's favorite getaway.

Near the parking lot, you'll find Surfer's Market, a charming gift shop and cafe.
It's the perfect spot to use the restroom, browse local souvenirs, and wind down before boarding the bus.

I collect travel magnets, so I picked one up here and grabbed a scoop of local gelato!
It’s super refreshing and highly recommended if you have a few minutes to spare.
Palm Tree Swing (Approx. 30–40 mins)

Our next stop was the famous Palm Tree Swing.
It's a highly Instagrammable spot right on the sand, though the clouds rolled in during my visit.
Fingers crossed you get clear blue skies for your photoshoot here!
Seaside Momochi Beach Park
📍 Seaside Momochi Beach Park
2-chōme-902-1 Momochihama, Sawara Ward, Fukuoka, 814-0001 Japan

The final stop of the tour is Seaside Momochi Beach Park.
If you ask your guide in advance, you can hop off the bus here instead of returning to Hakata Station.
I chose to get off here to catch the sunset and explore Fukuoka Tower!
Total Duration & Final Thoughts
Departing Hakata at 1:50 PM, we arrived at Momochi Beach around 5:30 PM.
While exact times can vary slightly depending on traffic and group punctuality, the schedule is incredibly reliable and leaves plenty of room for evening plans.
If you want to explore the highlights of Itoshima without the stress of driving, this half-day bus tour is a no-brainer!
