Embark on a unique family adventure through Ireland in 2026! Discover the joy of a pop-up camping car, narrow roads, and creating unforgettable memories.
We've just embarked on a month-long adventure across Ireland, and for the first time, we're experiencing it in a truly unique camping car!
Typically, it looks like a regular van. But with a simple pop-up of the second-floor tent, it transforms into a cozy sleeping space for four.
It's truly the perfect camping car for a group of four!

This camper measures about 20.7 feet long, similar to other models we've driven, but it's noticeably narrower – probably by about 8 inches.
Considering how incredibly narrow Ireland's roads can be, we're so grateful we chose a more compact model. It's been a lifesaver!

Every turn on the road in Ireland reveals a landscape straight out of a movie.

We've affectionately named our rental camper 'Negreen.' It's a sweet combination of 'four-leaf clover' and 'green,' a name thoughtfully chosen by Aran, our little traveler!

This incredible journey is a multi-generational affair, with my 72-year-old mother and my 11-year-old child joining me.
We initially planned for a month in Ireland, three weeks in Iceland, and about a week in the Faroe Islands. However, travel always throws a few curveballs! We've decided to skip the Faroe Islands this time and extend our Iceland adventure to a full month instead.

As I mentioned earlier, the roads here are incredibly, incredibly narrow across the board.

With Mom along, we're eating exceptionally well! She's been whipping up amazing Korean dishes like Budae Jjigae (Army Stew), Kimchi Jjigae (Kimchi Stew), Kongguksu (cold soybean noodle soup), Bibim Guksu (spicy mixed noodles), and so much more.

We make sure to schedule a full rest day every week to ten days to recharge.

Our visit to a sheep farm, where we got to cuddle lambs and feed them milk, will be a story for next time... Stay tuned!

This has been a somewhat spontaneous, stream-of-consciousness update on our Ireland journey, but hopefully, it gives you a taste of our adventure!
The campervan the author rented in Ireland is a new type of two-story pop-up campervan. When the pop-up is opened, it provides sleeping space for four people. It is approximately 6.3m long, and a distinctive feature is that its width is about 20cm shorter than a standard campervan, designed to suit Ireland's narrow roads.
This one-month campervan trip to Ireland is with the author's 72-year-old mother and a 5th-grade elementary school child. Originally, the plan was one month in Ireland, three weeks in Iceland, and one week in the Faroe Islands, but it was changed to travel for one month in Iceland instead of going to the Faroe Islands.
Considering the fatigue of traveling with elderly family members, the author schedules a full day of rest once every week or ten days. On these rest days, they do laundry or catch up on pending tasks, while the author's mother enjoys knitting, among other relaxing activities.
