1. Dublin City Center Gems (The Book of Kells & St. Stephen's Green)
Dublin truly evokes the magical world of Harry Potter. The entire city feels like a page out of the books!
Unlike more bustling cities like London, Dublin is often less crowded, making it a fantastic destination for solo travelers to explore at their own pace.

When you visit Dublin, I highly recommend following this self-guided route:
The Book of Kells > Trinity College > St. Stephen's Green > St. Patrick's Cathedral > Dublin Castle
The Book of Kells exhibit is generally open from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
The Book of Kells is an absolute must-see! It's one of Ireland's national treasures, an illuminated manuscript of the four Gospels in Latin.
I actually missed it by just 30 minutes, and I still regret it! Make sure you don't make the same mistake – go see it!

After that, I headed to St. Stephen's Green. It's a peaceful spot, not too crowded, perfect for a leisurely stroll and some relaxation.

Even the lampposts I passed felt distinctly Irish! While many places in the UK and Ireland have that 'Harry Potter' charm, Dublin, in particular, truly captured that magical essence for me.

Next, I visited St. Patrick's Cathedral. Even just admiring its exterior was impressive!
As Ireland's largest cathedral, it boasts over 800 years of history and is dedicated to St. Patrick, who brought Christianity to Ireland.

2. Dublin Castle
Dublin Castle is steeped in Irish history and is definitely a place you should visit at least once.
Dublin Castle (Currently Closed for Renovations)
Operating Hours: 9:45 AM - 5:15 PM
Admission Fee: ~$11

Dublin Castle is currently closed for renovations as of late 2026, but its interior is truly magnificent, so do try to visit when it reopens!

Its unique exterior architecture truly set it apart from other castles I've seen.
3. Sunset Views by the River Liffey
Because I started my tour a bit late, I couldn't go inside every attraction, but simply admiring them from the outside was still wonderful. I still regret missing the Book of Kells, though!

After exploring the city, there's nothing better than grabbing a bottle of beer and relaxing by the River Liffey as the sun goes down!
This suggested route takes about 2-3 hours of walking, but with several parks along the way, it's an easy and enjoyable stroll.
