Why I Chose It & Essential Info

Honestly, I'm not usually a huge fan of Gomtang or Gukbap (rice soup).
But if something's genuinely delicious, I'm all in, and I especially love discovering unique, non-chain spots.
This place only has its main branch in Haeundae, with no other locations in different areas or towns, which truly drew me in.
I don't think I've ever seen it advertised on blogs either!
📺 Fun fact: It was featured on episode 8 of 'Gourmet Club'.

Waiting & Interior Atmosphere

I visited late on a weekend night, and luckily, there was no waiting line.
However, the inside was still quite bustling with people!

Inside, there are 9 tables, and one private room seemed to have about 2 tables.
There are also tables outside, just as many as inside.
It also looked like a great spot for groups.
Since the restaurant isn't extremely spacious, it might be a good idea to call ahead and inquire before your visit.
Menu & What We Ordered

Ordered Menu | Quantity | Price |
Gomtang (Special) | 1 | ~$16 |
Yang Gomtang (Special) | 1 | ~$18 |
Total ~$34 |
Perhaps because the stone pot rice comes with the Gomtang? The price is a bit on the higher side...!
My Honest Review

The side dishes are delicious and impeccably clean.
The kimchi and kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi) are absolutely perfect!
No unnecessary fuss, just pure harmony with the Gomtang!
I heard all the side dishes use domestically sourced ingredients.
With recent concerns about preservatives in imported kimchi, this is truly a relief!

I ordered the special size Gomtang, and my friend got the special size Yang Gomtang.
Then we shared half and half!
It's originally seasoned quite lightly,
so you can adjust the salt and pepper to your liking,
but just a little bit makes a big difference in flavor, so keep that in mind!
I think I added salt twice and pepper once.
Just a little bit at a time!

This is a delicious Gomtang with a clear, clean broth and melt-in-your-mouth tender meat.
Usually, when I have gomtang, I sometimes get that distinct 'iron' taste from the meat,
and wonder, 'Why bother?' so I don't eat it often.
But here? I could barely detect it at all!
(And trust me, I'm usually super sensitive to meat flavors!)
You're in for a truly clean and delightful gomtang experience here!

This is Yang-Gomtang, featuring a clear, clean broth and deliciously chewy, pristine tripe (yang).
As you can tell from the photos, the tripe was incredibly clean and fresh-looking.
It's the tripe part of the beef, and seriously, it's so good.
It's wonderfully soft and tender, yet has a satisfyingly chewy, clean texture.

Gomtang or Yang-Gomtang? How do you pick?
It's definitely a tough choice...,
But if I had to choose, I'd go with the Yang-Gomtang!
However, both are excellent, so trying a mixed bowl with both meats would also be a fantastic idea!
Even though I went for the 'special' size,
I still felt like it was just a tiny bit short,
the portion of meat was slightly disappointing.
However, that's just because the meat and tripe were so incredibly delicious that I kept wanting more!
Plus, if you finish with the *soongnyung* (scorched rice soup), you'll definitely be full~

The rice comes served as *sotbap* (pot rice) alongside the gomtang.
The fact that it's not just a standard bowl of rice
made the slightly higher price point feel totally justified.
First, you transfer the freshly cooked rice into the empty bowl provided.
Then, pour in some hot water, close the lid securely,
and let it steep gently while you enjoy your main meal.
The rice itself tasted amazing too~
Sotbap truly tastes different from regular rice!

Once you've finished your entire meal,
you can scrape out the *nurungji* (scorched rice) from the pot. It's so nutty, savory, and absolutely delicious!
Conclusion

If you're on the hunt for a fantastic 24-hour eatery in Busan, especially around Haeundae,
Ireok Gomtang offers a clean, delicious, and truly satisfying meal.
Honestly, I couldn't find a single thing to be disappointed about!
Before any of the side dish plates even had a chance to become empty,
they thoughtfully refilled them as needed,
so I didn't have to ask for a single refill during my meal.
That's how satisfied I was! Absolutely loved it! 😄
