Inside the Restaurant

Ippudo Ramen at Nagoya Station offers both counter seating and about three table seats, making it a great option whether you're dining solo or with a small group.
The counter seating ensures a quick turnover, so even if there's a line, you usually won't have to wait too long. It's a popular spot, especially with local professionals grabbing a delicious and quick meal.

Ippudo Ramen in Nagoya boasts three main types of ramen on its menu:
From their classic **Tonkotsu Ramen** to a flavorful **Spicy Miso Ramen** and a fiery **Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen**, there's something for every palate.
The Spicy Miso Ramen, in particular, has a delightful kick, perfectly balanced with notes of garlic and soy sauce. That distinct garlic flavor is truly its charm!
Complimentary Offerings

Instead of plain water, Ippudo Ramen serves refreshing iced Rooibos tea! This herbal tea is fantastic for cutting through the richness of the ramen broth, cleansing your palate with every sip.
It's a thoughtful touch that I appreciate at every Ippudo branch I visit.

There are also three types of complimentary side dishes. The one in the middle, seasoned bean sprouts, was surprisingly delicious even for someone who isn't usually a fan of bean sprouts!
You can always ask the staff for more of these tasty sides.
The Food

On my visit to this fantastic Nagoya eatery, I ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen, a side of gyoza, and a refreshing highball.
Seriously, if you go to Ippudo Ramen, the gyoza is an absolute must-try! It's unbelievably good. I'll tell you more about it in a bit, but trust me on this one!

First to arrive was the highball, made with Suntory whiskey. It paired perfectly with the ramen, cutting through the richness and making each bite even more enjoyable. It was so refreshing!

Next up, the gyoza – the side dish you absolutely cannot skip at Ippudo Ramen! Seriously, this place is a gyoza paradise.
Even if you're already full from the ramen, you'll find yourself ordering these. The chewy wrappers and juicy, flavorful filling are just exquisite. I devoured them!

And finally, the Spicy Miso Ramen! You can choose various toppings, but I opted for the full-topping version shown at the top of the menu.
The ramen broth comes with a savory soy sauce base and a dollop of spicy sauce. Just mix it all together, and you're in for a treat. The spicy sauce, infused with garlic, gives it a wonderfully pungent and delicious kick!

The noodles were perfectly cooked – thin yet wonderfully chewy. When ordering, you can actually choose your preferred noodle texture. For many Western palates, asking for 'soft' noodles might give you the ideal chewiness you're looking for!

My bowl came with two slices of tender chashu pork and a perfectly cooked soft-boiled egg. The egg was seasoned just right and incredibly tasty – I almost wanted to order another one!
The chashu slices were long and had an excellent balance of lean meat and fat, making them melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

For this satisfying meal, here's a breakdown of the cost:
The Spicy Miso Ramen was 1420 JPY (~$9).
Since it was a weekday, I added the gyoza + rice set for an additional 210 JPY (~$1).
And the highball was 460 JPY (~$3).
My total came to 2090 JPY (~$13)!
Considering I enjoyed a full ramen, gyoza, and a highball, this price felt very reasonable!
Overall Thoughts
Ippudo Ramen at Nagoya Station is truly one of my favorite ramen spots, right alongside Ichiran Ramen.
Whether you opt for their classic **Tonkotsu** or the incredibly flavorful **Spicy Miso**, you're in for an amazing culinary experience. Seriously, both are fantastic!
And whatever you do, don't forget to order the gyoza! Beyond Nagoya, Ippudo has branches in Osaka, Tokyo, Sapporo, and many other cities across Japan, so you have plenty of opportunities to try it out on your next trip!
Ippudo Ramen is located in the underground food alley of JR Nagoya Station. There are many bar seats inside, as well as about three standard tables, making it a great place for groups to visit.
The spicy miso ramen is 1,420 yen, and if you visit on a weekday, you can add 210 yen to order the gyoza and rice set. If you pair it with a Suntory Highball for 460 yen, the total comes to 2,090 yen.
You can choose the noodle texture when ordering, and it is recommended that Korean visitors request the 'soft' option. The thin noodles are served well-cooked, allowing you to enjoy the chewy texture that Koreans tend to prefer.
Instead of regular water, cold iced rooibos tea is provided as the standard drink, which helps balance the richness of the ramen. There are three types of side dishes, including seasoned bean sprouts, which you can get by asking the staff.
