It's been a while since I had sushi in Fukuoka,
but I've just discovered a new favorite!
This place was so delicious, I finished an entire plate of sushi
and still added two more pieces! Talk about a sushi craving satisfied!
If you visit for lunch,
they offer set meals, and best of all,
unlimited rice and miso soup.
My nephew, who came along, also thoroughly enjoyed
his mackerel sashimi set meal!

During lunch, they specialize in sushi and kaisendon set meals, while evenings transform it into an izakaya
where you can savor fresh seafood paired with a variety of drinks.
Their lunch menu offers fantastic value,
especially the kaisendon and sushi!
The quality is superb, and the portions are generous.
If you want to add more, individual sushi pieces can be ordered for a reasonable ~$1-2 each,
making it easy to customize your meal.

A Must-Try Sushi Spot in Fukuoka
Here's a look at Ikeda Sengyo's lunch menu.
You can help yourself to unlimited rice and miso soup, ensuring you leave full.
Beyond kaisendon and sushi, you can also enjoy Gomasaba,
a local Fukuoka specialty.
Since it was a really hot day, we also ordered ginger ale.
The food came out quickly, and the interior was wonderfully cool!

This Kaisendon is packed with various fresh seafood and tuna,
but the star of the show is definitely the large, succulent raw shrimp.
The Gomasaba, with its fresh mackerel and perfect sesame sauce,
was incredibly delicious.
For the purest seafood experience,
sushi is always the way to go.
If you want to indulge, choose the sushi platter!
Ultimately, my companion couldn't resist
and ordered an additional uni (sea urchin) sushi piece.
They said it was absolutely incredible!^^
The Kaisendon was also perfect, with the rice at an ideal temperature,
super fresh seafood, and a delightful umami flavor that made us devour it in no time!
Each lunch set
comes with a basic serving of salad, rice, miso soup, and mentaiko (spicy cod roe).
It's a hearty and satisfying meal,
and given its excellent value,
if you're staying near Tenjin or Canal City,
I highly recommend making a reservation
for a perfect brunch or early lunch spot.
Google Maps reservations are available, so you can avoid waiting in line
on a hot day – definitely worth booking ahead!
