Housing International Hotel Qingdao Review:
The Perfect Stay Near May Fourth Square & MixC Mall
I recently took a quick three-day getaway to Qingdao, China.
As a first-time visitor to the city, figuring out the best neighborhood to stay in was a bit of a puzzle.
After weighing my options and reading countless recommendations,
I ultimately booked a room at the Housing International Hotel (豪森府邸国际酒店),
located right by the iconic May Fourth Square.
Spoiler alert: I was incredibly happy with my choice!

Today, I’m sharing my honest review and everything you need to know
about staying at the Housing International Hotel in Qingdao.

There were a few major selling points that won me over:

The red pin on the map above marks the hotel's exact location.
While it might be classified as a standard 3-star hotel,
the fact that a major shopping mall and subway station
are practically on its doorstep is a massive perk.
I was also thrilled to find out that even the most affordable rooms offer
views of May Fourth Square.
With numerous positive reviews from English-speaking travelers,
and rates hovering around ~$46 to ~$54 a night,
the value you get here is genuinely hard to beat.

Once you enter the building,
head immediately to your left and take the Building B escalator
up to the hotel lobby.

Look for the pink sign—that's the front desk!
Check-in officially begins at 3:00 PM.

If you arrive early, the staff is more than happy to store your luggage.
I highly recommend dropping off your bags,
grabbing a bite to eat nearby, and returning for check-in later.

Tucked in the back is the breakfast dining area,
and there are a few cozy sofas in the lobby if you need to rest.

There are elevators on both the right and left sides of the lobby,
and you can use whichever is available.

For security, the elevators require you to
tap your room key card before selecting a floor.
Just tap the sensor pad, wait for the beep,
and press your floor number.

I was assigned Room 1606-1,
located at the far end of the 16th floor.
Remember, I specifically requested a room facing May Fourth Square
during the booking process!

Right from the room, you are greeted with a sweeping city skyline.
Step a bit closer to the window, and you'll catch a stunning glimpse of
May Fourth Square and the ocean.
Getting both a city view and an ocean view in one room
was an absolute treat.

Watching the morning light and evening sunsets
from the room made the stay feel incredibly premium.
Honestly, the view alone easily justified the room rate.

In the distance, I could spot the Olympic Sailing Center,
while the vibrant red sculpture of May Fourth Square stood out beautifully.

The night view is equally spectacular.
If you enjoy unwinding in your room with late-night snacks
or drinks, you'll absolutely love this backdrop.

The room itself is quite spacious,
featuring a separated two-room layout.
There isn't much to complain about,
though it's worth noting that the bed is on the firmer side.

The bathroom was brightly lit and spotlessly clean,
though the fixtures show a bit of age.
Given the affordable price point and the building's age,
it's clear the property is very well-maintained.

One fantastic feature is the inclusion of both 110V and 220V outlets,
making it super convenient for international travelers.
They even provide phone charging cables right in the room!

The bathroom comes stocked with disposable amenities,
including small tubes of toothpaste.
Basic essentials like shampoo, body wash, and fresh towels are all provided,
and the shower water pressure was perfectly fine.

There are plenty of hangers in the closet,
and the mini-fridge is surprisingly spacious.

Taking everything into account—the location, the views, and the amenities—
the Housing International Hotel is an absolute steal.
Scoring a weekend stay for around ~$46 is
incredible value for money.
While the hotel isn't ultra-modern,
it's clean, comfortable, and
lacks any major downsides.
If you're planning a trip to Qingdao in 2026 and trying to narrow down your accommodation,
I highly recommend booking here.
The unbeatable location and
fantastic views make it a winner.

Prices can fluctuate depending on your travel dates,
so I recommend comparing rates before you book.
