Searching for amazing value in Fukuoka? Hotel Trad Hakata offers 4-star comfort, a prime location near Canal City, and free shuttle service to Hakata Station, all for a surprisingly affordable price.
There's a garden with a fountain inside the hotel.
It's not huge, but it definitely elevates the hotel's atmosphere,
making it feel more luxurious.
It's even more beautiful in the evening when the lights come on.
It's perfect for a leisurely stroll.
Check-in
The various sculptures and lounge areas in the lobby
clearly showed a lot of thought went into their design.
It was incredibly spacious and tidy, and the staff were all very friendly.
Check-in can be done self-service at a kiosk that supports Korean,
but a staff member was right there to help with everything.
Just a heads-up, as is common with most hotels in Japan,
a lodging tax of 200 yen per person must be paid here.
(Card payments are accepted.)
Bath salts are also provided in the lobby,
so if you plan to use the bathtub, feel free to take some.
There are two elevators, and a clever new technology means
your floor is automatically selected when you tap your card key...!
Double Room
The room I booked was a Double Room!
This room comes with a double bed, TV, table, wardrobe, air purifier,
and a vanity, among other amenities.
Most hotels in Japan have rooms so small that once you put down your luggage,
there's barely any space left to move around.
But Hotel Trad Hakata was quite spacious,
with enough room to open two suitcases and still have space to spare!
Inside the wardrobe, you'll find slippers and a safe.
Above the refrigerator, you'll find a kettle, bottled water,
and complimentary cups and coffee.
The refrigerator is small, just enough to store a few drinks.
A fantastic city view from the 10th floor...!
You can even slightly open the window for some fresh air.
While it's beautiful at night, the morning view is truly stunning.
You can connect to Wi-Fi using the QR code displayed on the TV, and then enjoy Netflix and YouTube to your heart's content!
Another QR code lets you check out facility services and even the real-time breakfast situation.
You can also find the operating hours for the free shuttle bus heading to Hakata Station right here.
Just a heads-up, the shuttle doesn't run from Hakata Station to the hotel.
The bathroom was surprisingly spacious and spotless! It came with a shower curtain and all the basic amenities, and the water pressure was just right – a real plus.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM. It's a delightful buffet spread available at the restaurant next to the 1st-floor lobby.
We did an 'open run' right at 6:30 AM, and they guided us to a lovely window seat!
The breakfast spread is incredibly diverse! You'll find Western favorites like salads, fruits, ham, cheese, French fries, chicken, fried eggs, sausages, and bacon.
Plus, there are Japanese delights such as salmon, mentaiko omelets, various simmered dishes, and udon.
And for the main event, eel!
And even a variety of desserts!
The breakfast cost was so affordable, yet the quality was absolutely fantastic.
Even though I'm usually not a fan of eel,
I ended up eating all the eel served at breakfast.
It was truly delicious – you absolutely have to try it!
You'll find everything from sparkling drinks, juices, and iced tea to coffee.
There's a wide variety of beverages, and what's even better, you can take them out!
So feel free to grab a drink to enjoy back in your room after breakfast.
And that wraps up my review of Hotel Trad Hakata in Fukuoka – a fantastic 4-star hotel that truly delivers on value!
