From a Port Tower view to a free shuttle bus and even free laundry facilities—
if you're looking for the perfect place to stay in Kobe, you'll definitely want to read on! :)
Why I Chose This Hotel in Kobe

Kobe is world-famous for its breathtaking night views,
so this time, I was on the hunt for a hotel where I could admire
the iconic Port Tower and Harborland scenery right from my window.
The two main hotels that always pop up for Kobe night views are
the Meriken Park Oriental Hotel and the Hotel Okura Kobe.
However, the Meriken Park Oriental Hotel is located a bit further in.
Since we were exploring on foot, we decided
to go with the more convenient Hotel Okura Kobe.
And it was the best decision! The Port Tower view was absolutely stunning,
and it was super close to the umie shopping mall and Mosaic.
For shopping lovers like us, it couldn't have been more perfect.
How to Get to Hotel Okura from Sannomiya Station

The Hotel Okura Kobe
runs a complimentary shuttle bus service from Sannomiya Station.
To find the shuttle bus stop, it's actually much easier to search for
Mint Kobe on Google Maps instead of Sannomiya Station.
The second floor of Sannomiya Station is directly connected to the Mint Kobe building.
Once you cross over to Mint Kobe and head down to the 1st floor,
you'll find yourself right at the bus terminal.
The Hotel Okura Kobe shuttle departs from Berth B8.
Walk all the way to the back to find the berth,
and just line up along the orange line.
This is a shared shuttle bus for guests staying at both
Hotel Okura Kobe and Meriken Park Oriental Hotel.
When heading back to Sannomiya Station from the hotel,
the shuttle bus stop is located just to the left
of the main lobby entrance.
Just a heads-up: it doesn't drop you off right in front of Mint Kobe.
It lets you off near Sannomiya Station,
and you'll need to walk about 3 minutes to reach the station.
Checking In
As soon as you hop off the shuttle,
you'll see the entrance to Hotel Okura Kobe.
As expected of a 4-star hotel, the lobby was spacious,
exuding a calm and elegant atmosphere.
My English isn't perfect, but the staff was so accommodating
that check-in was a breeze! :)
The Room
I booked the Authentic Floor Standard Twin Room
and got assigned to the 27th floor.
Check-out isn't until 12:00 PM, which is wonderfully generous and relaxing.
Being on such a high floor, I was incredibly excited for the view!
While the hotel has a slightly classic, heritage feel,
it has been beautifully renovated and is kept spotlessly clean.
At 29 square meters (around 312 sq ft),
it felt incredibly spacious for a Japanese hotel room.
The twin beds offered plenty of space for the two of us,
and having power outlets right at the headboard
made charging our phones before sleep super convenient.
Most standard Japanese business hotels are so tight
that you can barely open a single suitcase,
but here, even with a table and cozy sofa setup,
it never felt cramped at all! :)
The bathroom has that typical Japanese hotel layout,
but it was sparkling clean and completely odor-free.
It's an all-in-one style bathroom with a bathtub, sink, and toilet,
and it comes fully stocked with all the basic amenities
like toothbrushes, combs, cotton swabs, razors, and cotton pads.
On the desk, you'll find power outlets, a phone, and cozy pajamas,
and there were even two complimentary bottles of water in the fridge.
A lot of Japanese business hotels don't provide free bottled water,
so this was a really nice, thoughtful touch!
Port Tower Night View
The absolute biggest reason I chose Hotel Okura Kobe
was definitely this view.
From the window, you get a perfect view of both Kobe Port Tower and the Mosaic Ferris Wheel,
giving you that instant, "Wow, I'm really in a legendary night-view city" feeling! ✨
It gets so much more beautiful when the lights turn on at night,
and being able to enjoy it comfortably from my own room
was pure bliss.
How to Book
Considering the room size, the stunning Port Tower view, and the free shuttle service,
this was a highly satisfying 4-star Kobe hotel stay
for around ~$100 to ~$115 a night.
Prices can vary depending on the booking season and room type,
so I highly recommend comparing final prices including taxes.

but Trip.com had the best deal when I looked!

Amenities & Facilities
The hotel facilities are spread out across different floors.
As a guest, the floor you'll probably visit the most
is the Mezzanine (Mez) floor.
It has a microwave, an ice machine, and utensils,
which made it super convenient to enjoy convenience store snacks
or takeout in the comfort of our room.
Plus, you can use the laundry machines completely free of charge!
Many Japanese hotels charge for laundry,
so it was amazing that Hotel Okura Kobe offered it for free.
You can even check the real-time laundry status right from your room TV!
There's also a FamilyMart convenience store on the lobby floor.
While it's not huge, it's perfect for grabbing quick drinks
or any essentials without having to step outside the hotel.
The next morning, I took a quick stroll through the Hotel Okura garden,
and it was way prettier than I expected!
I saw so many moms gathered there taking photos—it's definitely a popular spot! 😂

and the free shuttle service makes it

The rooms are also quite spacious by Japanese standards,
