Stay at Hotel Monterey La Soeur Fukuoka, a fantastic value hotel just a 5-minute walk from Tenjin Station. Perfect for shopping, dining, and exploring Fukuoka's vibrant heart.
When I was searching for the perfect accommodation in Fukuoka,
my biggest dilemma was whether to stay near Hakata Station or Tenjin Station.
Initially, I considered Hakata Station due to its excellent airport accessibility,
but this trip was with my sister, and our itinerary was heavily focused on
shopping and exploring local eateries. That's why I started looking for hotels near Tenjin Station instead of Hakata.
After sifting through countless budget-friendly Fukuoka hotels,
I settled on 'Hotel Monterey La Soeur Fukuoka'.
While the rooms aren't particularly spacious or ultra-modern,
its location alone makes it worth booking again.
If you plan to walk to Tenjin Underground Mall, department stores, popular restaurants, and yatai (open-air food stalls),
this hotel will definitely exceed your expectations.

Just a 5-minute walk from Tenjin Station, easy even with luggage
From Fukuoka Airport, you can reach Tenjin Station directly by subway without any transfers.
From Tenjin Station Exit 1 or 2, the hotel is precisely a 5-minute walk. Even with my luggage, the journey felt effortless.
We arrived on an early morning flight, so we stopped by the hotel to drop off our bags before check-in time.
The front desk had staff who spoke English, making luggage storage incredibly easy,
and we were able to start exploring Tenjin city center right away, unburdened.
After dropping off our bags, we explored Tenjin Underground Mall, browsed department stores, enjoyed Shin Shin Ramen, and before we knew it, it was 3:00 PM.
After checking in, I lay down for a quick rest and woke up to find it was already evening.
That night, we walked from the hotel to the Tenjin Yatai street
to enjoy a beer at one of the food stalls. The convenience of being able to walk everywhere was truly fantastic.
If your Fukuoka trip is largely about shopping and dining, the advantages of staying in Tenjin are surprisingly significant.

Hotel with a Connected Seven-Eleven
One surprisingly convenient feature was that the hotel's first floor connects directly to a Seven-Eleven.
After walking over 9 miles (20,000 steps) all day in Japan and returning to your room,
even stepping out again to buy a can of beer can feel like a chore.
Here, you simply take the elevator down to enjoy some convenience store shopping.
It's perfect for grabbing coffee and a pastry in the morning,
or stocking up on late-night snacks and puddings.
This small convenience significantly boosted my satisfaction throughout our stay.
Double Room Review

We booked a Double Room, which we secured for around ~$69 on a weekday.
Upon entering the room after our 3 PM check-in, we found a typical Japanese business hotel aesthetic, clean and well-maintained.
While the room wasn't expansive, it featured a table and chairs next to the bed, perfect for enjoying late-night snacks we picked up from the convenience store.
We were assigned a room on the 10th floor, offering a view of the Tenjin city center. The natural light was great, and it didn't feel cramped at all.
A bathtub was standard, and the water pressure was excellent, allowing for a relaxing soak.
Although the hotel shows a bit of age, the overall cleanliness and maintenance were truly impressive.
Great Value at ~$70 a Night, Book Early or Miss Out!
On the weekdays we stayed, the price was around ~$70 per night (breakfast not included).
Considering its prime location just a 5-minute walk from Tenjin Station, the direct convenience store access on the first floor, and the English-speaking staff service, it offers fantastic value.
Hotel prices in Japan often rise quickly as the travel date approaches.
In fact, many Fukuoka accommodations can be significantly more expensive if booked right before your trip,
so I highly recommend booking in advance once your itinerary is finalized.
