When choosing a hotel in Fukuoka, location is key, but equally important is

room size!

There's a common saying that Japanese hotel rooms can be a bit snug,

so I was definitely worried if two large suitcases would even fit, right?!

After comparing several accommodations,

I landed on a place close to Tenjin:

Hotel Monte Hermana Fukuoka, where I stayed for three nights.

And when I finally stepped inside,

the first pleasant surprise was a much larger 21㎡ room than I expected!

From the room itself to transportation, cleanliness, and the actual price I paid,

I'm going to give you a candid and detailed breakdown!

Why I Chose It Over Life Tenjin

Before booking, I seriously considered Life Tenjin Fukuoka,

and the Hotel Monterey Fukuoka right next door.

At the time, the Life Tenjin room I looked at was 14㎡,

while Monte Hermana's 21㎡ room

cost around ~$255 for three nights.

This made it about ~$36 cheaper than a similarly sized room elsewhere.

And get this – the Life Tenjin rooms didn't have refrigerators!!!

For us, a couple who absolutely loves grabbing beers and late-night snacks from Japanese supermarkets,

a room refrigerator was a non-negotiable!

It wasn't huge,

but it was the perfect temperature and size for storing sandwiches, yogurt, puddings, and our beloved beers!

So, that's why Life Tenjin was out of the running!

As for the Hotel Monterey Fukuoka right next door,

it was about ~$15 more expensive per night...

Why, though?

Considering room size, the refrigerator, price, and other factors,

I ultimately decided on Hotel Monte Hermana Fukuoka!

so make sure to compare rooms and check for free cancellation options!

A Surprisingly Spacious 21㎡ Queen Double Room (for Fukuoka!)

The Queen Double Room we stayed in was a generous 21㎡!

In Japan, this is truly a rare find – a super spacious room!

Next to the 180cm wide queen-size bed,

we could fully open two 24-inch suitcases on the floor,

and still have plenty of room to move around!

Wow... out of all the Japanese hotels I've stayed in,

this was by far the most spacious and comfortable! 👍

No need to constantly open and close suitcases when grabbing something,

and it was super convenient for organizing all our shopping hauls and clothes during our three-night stay.

The floor was carpeted, so

I was a little worried about the air quality,

but guess what?! There was an air purifier!!

Whether it was for indoor air quality or humidity,

we kept it on throughout our three-night stay, and it was incredibly useful.

The fact that all rooms are non-smoking was also

a big plus when choosing our accommodation.

Extended Stay Cleaning, Towel Changes, and Disposable Amenities

Both the room itself and the bedding were spotless,

making for a super satisfying first impression!

The room was absolutely pristine,

truly

spotless!!

They don't replace the bedding and pajamas daily here,

but I actually preferred that, as I find daily changes unnecessary.

Room cleaning and towel changes were provided daily.

Aren't the pajamas just adorable?

Bed sheets and pillow covers are

changed every two days by default.

If you want them changed on a specific day,

you just need to place this green card on your bed in the morning.

Disposable amenities are also

available daily in the lobby, so you can grab as much as you need,

which means there's no need to worry about packing your own toiletries!

2-minute walk to Watanabedori Station, 6-7 minutes to Tenjin

I walked directly from Monte Hermana

to Tenjin Underground Shopping Center,

and it only took about 6-7 minutes.

As I walked, I got to see the surrounding scenery and

browse the shops,

which I actually preferred!

It's also the perfect distance to drop off your shopping bags and head out again!

Close to the bustling area, but quiet at night – here's why!

Staying right next to Hakata Station can be expensive,

and the bustling atmosphere can be a bit much.

But this place is slightly set back from the main commercial areas,

so it was wonderfully quiet during our stay, without any noise.

Honestly, the hotel had

given a noise advisory due to ongoing construction, which made me a little worried.

But during our actual stay,

we didn't hear any construction sounds or noise at all.

It might vary depending on the construction schedule and room location,

so if you're sensitive to noise, it's a good idea to check before booking!

From convenience stores and supermarkets to coffee machines and ice makers!

One of the absolute best advantages of Monte Hermana Fukuoka!

With Seven-Eleven, FamilyMart,

and Maxvalu all nearby,

you can have a snack party anytime, and

it was perfect for grabbing beer and late-night treats even at odd hours.

The room fridge isn't huge, but

it was incredibly convenient to be able to store drinks

bought from the convenience store or supermarket.

What's more, there's a

coffee machine and an ice maker available in the common area,

making it absolutely perfect for enjoying iced coffee or a cold beer!

3 nights for ~$255, would I book again?

If it had just been a cheap place to stay,

I probably wouldn't have considered coming back.

But with its affordable price, spacious and clean rooms,

plus 1-minute walk access to the subway station!

There's absolutely no reason not to book it!!!

I'm definitely planning to stay here again

on my next Fukuoka trip!!
