A Spacious, Budget-Friendly Hidden Gem

When planning a trip to Fukuoka, most travelers
debate between staying near Hakata Station or Tenjin.
I used to think Hakata—being closer to the airport and a major transit hub—
would automatically mean sky-high prices. But surprisingly, there are some incredible budget-friendly options!
Today, I am sharing my full review of a fantastic, affordable hotel right by Hakata Station.
Best of all? It is exceptionally spacious for a Japanese business hotel,
and I absolutely loved my 3-day, 2-night stay here!!

The property I called home during my Fukuoka getaway was
<Hotel Forza>.
Since it is a popular chain, there are actually three locations just around Hakata Station.
I opted for "Hotel Forza Hakataeki Chikushi-Guchi II."
As the newest of the three, the rooms are noticeably cleaner and
slightly larger than the older branches.

Above all, the location was an absolute dream.
It is barely a 2-minute walk from Hakata Station,
and super close to the Fukuoka Airport bus stop.

If you are planning any day trips—like a bus tour to Yufuin or Beppu—
almost all group tours meet at the Lawson convenience store
right by the Chikushi-Guchi exit of Hakata Station.
If I had stayed in the Tenjin area, I would have had to wake up
at least 30 minutes earlier. Staying at Hotel Forza meant
I could enjoy a slow, relaxed morning before my tours! :)

Also, if you are a foodie, the viral sandwich spot "Shinsen Sando"
is right across the street. Beating the morning rush is a must here,
and since our hotel was steps away, we just rolled out of bed and scored the ultimate breakfast! Yay! >.<

✅ Check-in 2:00 PM | Check-out 11:00 AM
You can check into your room starting at 2:00 PM,
and they happily store your luggage before or after your stay.

The self-check-in kiosks are quick and easy to use,
but there are always staff members on hand if you need assistance.
They even had staff who spoke multiple languages.
Keep in mind that Fukuoka hotels require a local accommodation tax to be paid on-site.
It is 200 JPY per person, per night, payable by cash or card.

The lobby floor houses the breakfast area, a coin laundry, and an ice machine.
My favorite perk? The complimentary coffee machine!
Pairing a fresh Americano with my Shinsen Sando sandwich
became my daily morning ritual. The coffee was surprisingly good!
There is also a luggage scale available, perfect for double-checking your bags before heading to the airport.

If you have traveled to Japan before, you know the struggle:
most business hotels are so tiny you can barely open a suitcase.
Having stayed in over 20 different Japanese hotels over the years,
I can confidently say the room conditions at Hotel Forza
are absolutely top-tier.

We booked a standard Double Room.
At roughly 194 sq ft (18m²), it was incredibly roomy!
We easily laid out two medium-sized (25-inch) checked bags
on the floor and still had plenty of space to walk around.

There was a cozy sofa by the window,
and the room came fully equipped with a mini-fridge, electric kettle, hairdryer,
TV, air purifier, and a full-length mirror.
Everything you need for a comfortable stay is right there.

The bathroom was spotless and perfectly sized.
Basic toiletries like towels, pajamas, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash
were provided in the room. For extra amenities (like toothbrushes or razors),
you can just grab what you need from the eco-station in the lobby.

The absolute highlight of Hotel Forza Hakata?
The in-room massage cushion!
After a long day of racking up miles exploring Fukuoka, using that massager was pure bliss.
They even have specific room categories that come with full massage chairs,
so keep an eye out for those when booking!

Agoda | Klook | Booking.com | Trip.com |
~$73 | ~$86 | ~$96 | ~$83 |
Prices are relatively competitive across the board,
but Agoda had the cheapest rate during my search!
I ended up booking through Agoda and paid
around ~$147 total for a 2-night stay for 2 people.

Snagging a spacious, centrally located room for
around $70 a night is an absolute steal! The location is unbeatable.
I was beyond satisfied with my stay, and if I ever find myself
back in Fukuoka, I would not hesitate to book this hotel again!

Yes, it is very close to the Lawson convenience store at the Hakata Station Chikushi-Guchi entrance, which is the meeting point for all bus tours. It's only a 2-minute walk to Hakata Station, so you can prepare for your tour at a leisurely pace in the morning.
The standard double room is 18m² in size, which is comfortable and has enough space left even when two 25-inch medium-sized suitcases are opened. The rooms are relatively spacious compared to typical Japanese business hotels.
Check-in is available from 2:00 PM and can be done via a self check-in machine. An accommodation tax of 200 JPY per person per night must be paid separately on-site in cash or by credit card.
A unique feature is the massager provided in the room to help relieve fatigue. In addition, an air purifier and a full-length mirror are provided as standard, and disposable amenities can be picked up from the lobby on the first floor.
