Fukuoka Hotel Recommendations
Spacious Places to Stay in Hakata and Tenjin
Written & Photographed by Bbangeuni
Every time I travel to Fukuoka,
I love staying in a different place.
From budget-friendly, spacious, and comfortable hotels
to slightly pricier options with generous room sizes,
I’m here to share my top recommendations!
First things first, today's main theme is definitely spacious rooms in Fukuoka!
1. Accommodations Near Hakata Station

This is a hotel I stayed at during my recent trip to Fukuoka,
and it's located just a 5-minute walk from Hakata Station!
It's also super close to the airport bus stop,
making the location absolutely unbeatable.
The hotel is called <Hotel Forza Hakataeki Chikushiguchi II>.
There is also a Chikushiguchi I, but we stayed at II,
which seemed to be the newer building of the two.

The standard double room is 18m² (approx. 193 sq ft),
which was roomy enough to easily lay out two 25-inch suitcases with space to spare.
I also loved that every room comes equipped with a massager!
*For context, standard Japanese hotel rooms can be incredibly tiny,
often starting at just 11–13m²—basically just enough space for one person to lie down.

We booked it for around the low $70s (~$70) per night,
making it an incredible value for the money.
We went on a double-date trip, and both couples were super satisfied with this choice!

2. Accommodations Near Nakasu River

<The Royal Park Canvas Fukuoka Nakasu>
is located right beside the Nakasu River,
so the stunning river views are the main highlight!
The Corner Riverside King Room is the most popular,
and at 29m² (approx. 312 sq ft), it is incredibly spacious.
Even the standard rooms start at a decent 18m².

Since it's a 4-star hotel, you can enjoy a much more upscale
and luxurious vibe compared to standard business hotels.
The hotel also features a public bath (daiyokujo), which is perfect for unwinding after a long day.
Plus, they give you 1 coin per night when you check in,
which can be exchanged for beer or snacks at the 2nd-floor lounge.
While hotels in Fukuoka charge an accommodation tax of 200 JPY (~$1) per person per night,
having this kind of complimentary beer and snack service really highlights
the thoughtful and generous hospitality of the hotel!

The hotel is located a 4-minute drive or 10-minute walk from Tenjin Station,
and a 10-minute drive from Hakata Station, so Tenjin Station is a bit closer!
As a bonus, Don Quijote Nakasu,
Ichiran Ramen Main HQ, and the Anpanman Children's Museum are all nearby.
All three are super close—less than a 5-minute walk away!
For room rates, I found that Rakuten Travel,
which specializes in premium Japanese hotels and ryokans, offered the lowest prices.
3. Watanabe-dori Station Accommodation

The third spot I recommend is Hotel Monte Hermana,
which is just a 1-minute walk from Watanabe-dori Station!
You can get here easily from Hakata Station
by taking the Nanakuma Line for just 3 stops.
It's also about a 10-minute walk to Tenjin Station, so the location is fantastic!

I stayed in a twin room here, and even though it's a business hotel,
the room is quite spacious at 21m²!
It felt noticeably larger than the first hotel I mentioned!
You can watch Netflix, YouTube, and other streaming services on the TV,
and the room is fully stocked with all the essential amenities
and convenient facilities you need for a comfortable stay.
4. Triple Room Near Tenjin-minami Station

If hotels right in the heart of Tenjin feel a bit too pricey,
staying slightly further out near Tenjin-minami Station is a great alternative!
I stayed at the Best Western Plus Hotel,
and I managed to book a triple room for around ~$32 per person, per night.
Getting our own individual beds made it even better!!

There's a cozy sofa and a small table on one side,
along with a desk and chair further inside,
making the overall space feel super generous and comfortable!
By the way, they also have quad rooms for 4 people...!
5. Brand New 5-Star Hotel in Tenjin

This is a hotel I've bookmarked for my next trip,
thinking, "I absolutely have to stay here next time!"
It's a brand new Fukuoka hotel that opened in April 2025,
and since it's a 5-star luxury property, it's definitely worth keeping an eye on!
Plus, it's directly connected to Tenjin Station, which makes the location unbeatable.

Compared to most hotels in downtown Fukuoka,
the standard rooms are massive at 35m²,
and the suites go all the way up to 64m²!
With a gorgeous rooftop cafe and a public bath complete with a sauna,
it's honestly the perfect spot for a relaxing staycation right in Fukuoka.

Since the hotel is located right at Tenjin Station,
it's perfect for dropping off your shopping bags and taking a quick break!
I highly recommend this to anyone who loves shopping or those who prioritize
a premium, relaxing hotel experience.
Just a heads-up: they only have 41 rooms in total, so bookings fill up incredibly fast
for weekends and peak seasons. Be sure to reserve early!
