1. Hong Kong Cosmetics and Perfume Shopping
Now, speaking from personal experience, when it comes to cosmetics for your face
on your Hong Kong shopping list, I usually don't recommend splurging too much.
Many of the products sold in Hong Kong
are actually quite common Korean or Japanese brands,
so there's no real need to buy them specifically here.
Instead, there's something I always check out when I visit SASA, a popular Hong Kong cosmetics store!
It's perfume!
Miniature Perfumes

Mini perfumes, in particular, are small and boast beautiful packaging.
They're fantastic for anyone who wants to try a new scent at a more affordable price,
and I highly recommend them as delightful gifts for friends on your Hong Kong souvenir list.
Perfumes
Hong Kong is generally duty-free!
Since there's no separate value-added tax
or general sales tax,
even regular perfumes can sometimes be a better deal than back home, not just the minis.
However, don't just assume they're always cheaper.
It's always a good idea to compare prices with duty-free shops in your home country before making a purchase.

2. Hong Kong Wellcome Supermarket Shopping & Convenience Store Souvenirs
When I create my Hong Kong shopping list,
Wellcome Supermarket is a place I absolutely always include!

Mala Cup Noodles
What I especially recommend are Mala cup noodles!
These are also a top recommendation for Hong Kong convenience store items.
However, Wellcome Supermarket often has special discounts or
'buy one get one free' bundle deals,
so make sure to check the supermarket prices first!

They're so affordable, making them perfect for buying several and sharing with friends and family.
Jumbo Blueberries
Another must-buy when you go shopping at Hong Kong Wellcome Supermarket!
While it's not a Hong Kong souvenir to take home,
I highly recommend trying them at your accommodation.

They're often hard to find in many countries and are usually much more expensive,
but at Hong Kong Wellcome Supermarket, you can get 2 packs for HKD 40!
That means one pack is incredibly affordable, around ~$2!
These blueberries are larger than regular ones and incredibly delicious.
Jenny Cookies
A word of caution when shopping at Hong Kong Wellcome Supermarket!
You'll see many bear-shaped tin case cookies in the supermarket,
but don't mistake them for authentic Jenny Cookies.
They're fakes!

Jenny Bakery's official stores are only located in Sheung Wan and Tsim Sha Tsui!
For those planning to buy genuine Jenny Cookies,

Making the Most of Your Octopus Card for Shopping
And for your Hong Kong shopping essentials,
don't forget to prepare your Hong Kong Octopus Card!

Beyond its use as a transport card for the MTR and buses,
it also allows for small payments at various places like Hong Kong convenience stores and Wellcome supermarkets,
making it incredibly useful for your Hong Kong shopping trips.
Especially if you're heading straight from the airport on your first day,
it's super convenient to pre-book it.
To help you book it right away,
I've found the lowest-priced prepaid Hong Kong Octopus Cards for you!
Booking Site | Price based on a card pre-loaded with HKD 50 |
Klook | |
MyRealTrip | ~$14 View Price |
Trip.com | ~$15 View Price |
On Klook, you can find not only the HKD 50 pre-loaded
Hong Kong Octopus Card,
but also packages that include an HKD 150 top-up + a free SIM card!

Buy Hong Kong Octopus Card at the Lowest Price
Unfortunately, the Klook price is the absolute lowest,
so additional discount coupons cannot be applied to it!
However, if you're booking tickets for Hong Kong Disneyland or other Hong Kong attractions
through Klook,
you can get up to ~$9 in discounts, so
I recommend registering these coupons in your account beforehand!
Coupon Codes:
📍세시간전260001 (Get ~$1 off for purchases over ~$36)
📍세시간전260002 (Get ~$2 off for purchases over ~$73)
📍세시간전260003 (Get ~$5 off for purchases over ~$219)

Save ~$9 and
let's grab a few more recommended cup noodles from Hong Kong convenience stores!
3. Hong Kong Clothing Shopping
If you're looking for recommended Hong Kong souvenir items for yourself, beyond edible gifts,
why not try some Hong Kong clothing shopping!
My recommended spots are Central and Causeway Bay.

Central offers a wide range of options, from large shopping malls to small concept stores,
making it perfect for finding unique clothing or bags that suit your style.
Hong Kong Central Clothing Shopping
Check out my reviews of my favorite Central shopping spots!👇
Causeway Bay Shopping
If you're looking to check out multiple brands all at once,
I recommend Causeway Bay over Central.
With shopping malls and department stores clustered together,
it's super convenient to complete your Hong Kong shopping list in one go!

4. Hong Kong Airport Shopping
If you haven't managed to buy gifts by your last day, then it's time to seize the airport opportunity!
Hong Kong Disney Merchandise

If you didn't get to visit Hong Kong Disneyland,
or if you want to grab one more piece of merchandise, check out the airport store.
Small character products like pouches
make it easy to choose gifts for kids on your Hong Kong gift list!

Kee Wah Bakery Cookies
They don't sell Jenny Bakery cookies at the airport!
Any teddy bear-illustrated cookies you see at the airport are merely imitations.

So, it's better to look for well-known Hong Kong bakery brands
like Kee Wah Bakery instead!
They have many items like cookies and egg rolls that are perfect for parents
or colleagues.
Summary
Recommended Hong Kong convenience store items include instant cup noodles;
for friends, mini perfumes and character merchandise;
and for parents or colleagues, Kee Wah Bakery cookies and similar items available at the airport
are the most suitable!
To remember all the recommended items from today's post,
I highly recommend bookmarking this post!
And when you're creating your Hong Kong shopping list,
it's much more convenient to prepare your Hong Kong Octopus Card in advance,
as it takes care of both transportation and payments! :)

At SASA, we recommend small, beautifully packaged miniature perfumes as gifts for friends. Since Hong Kong is a duty-free region, regular perfumes might also be reasonably priced compared to Korea, but it's best to compare prices with Korean duty-free shops before purchasing.
At Wellcome Mart, we recommend Mala cup noodles and jumbo blueberries, which can be purchased for HKD 40 for two packs. The bear tin-case cookies found at Wellcome Mart are imitations of Jenny Cookies, so Jenny Cookies should be purchased from official stores in Sheung Wan and Tsim Sha Tsui.
A Hong Kong Octopus Card preloaded with HKD 50 can be reserved on Klook for the lowest price of ~$12. Klook also offers packages that include HKD 150 credit and a free SIM card.
If you're looking for unique clothing or bags, we recommend Central, which offers a variety of options from large shopping malls to small concept stores. If you want to browse many brands at once, Causeway Bay is convenient, as it has a concentration of shopping malls and department stores.
At the airport, we recommend Hong Kong Disney merchandise or famous Hong Kong bakery brands like Kee Wah Bakery cookies and egg rolls. Jenny Cookies are not sold at the airport, and all bear-shaped cookies found there are imitations.
