Hong Kong Macau Independent Adventure
4-Night, 5-Day Itinerary & Total Expenses Breakdown
Words & Photos ⓒ Ppangeuni
Hong Kong and Macau are just about an hour apart by ferry,
making them perfect to explore together on one incredible trip.
Based on my independent adventure through Hong Kong and Macau with a friend,
I'm excited to share our jam-packed 4-night, 5-day itinerary,
along with a clear breakdown of our actual travel expenses!
Day 1
Incheon to Macau → Macau to Hong Kong by Ferry → Ibis Sheung Wan Hotel → New Heung Fat Dim Sum → Piita → The Peak Tram

[ Flights ]
To travel between Hong Kong and Macau, we took the ferry.
From Korea, you can fly into either Hong Kong or Macau,
whichever offers the best flight deal.
When I was looking, Air Macau flights into Macau were
more affordable, so that's what I booked~

✔️ Air Macau Review
With a generous 32kg baggage allowance and complimentary in-flight meals,
it was a much better option than many domestic low-cost carriers!

[ Ferry ]
After arriving at Macau International Airport, we headed straight to the adjacent
Taipa Ferry Terminal to catch our ferry to Hong Kong.
Remember to have your passport ready, as there's immigration check when crossing between territories!
The one-way trip takes about an hour, and we booked our tickets in advance.

~$5 discount code : 세시간전2600003

[ Accommodation ]
We stayed at the Ibis Sheung Wan Hotel, just a 7-minute walk from the Hong Kong Ferry Terminal.
Most accommodations in Hong Kong tend to be on the smaller side,
so we intentionally prioritized a hotel with an excellent location.
It's also a popular choice among Korean travelers!
▶ Ibis Hong Kong Central & Sheung Wan ◀

Oh, one important thing to note: Hong Kong uses different power outlet types,
so be sure to pack a universal travel adapter!

And just like that, our Hong Kong adventure truly began on Day 1!
Having only had our in-flight meal, we were starving! So, we quickly found a
delicious dim sum restaurant near our hotel to satisfy our hunger. Afterwards, we explored the vibrant Soho area and then grabbed a
hamburger at Piata Pizzeria.
It had a really cool, lively atmosphere, almost like a live music café!

Next up, we hopped on the Peak Tram to visit the iconic Victoria Peak.
This is the ultimate spot to gaze down at Hong Kong's breathtaking night skyline,
Truly amazing!! If it's your first time in Hong Kong, you absolutely have to visit~
▶ Peak Tram & Sky Terrace Observation Deck◀
Day 2
Travel from Incheon to Macau → Ferry from Macau to Hong Kong → Ibis Sheung Wan Hotel → New Hing Fat Dim Sum → Piita → Peak Tram

Day 2 was all about exploring downtown Hong Kong!
We enjoyed some bread and coffee at Bakehouse,
famous for its egg tarts, and explored the murals of
Soho Street and the Mid-Levels Escalators.

We had lunch at Kau Kee, a popular Hong Kong eatery,
and then explored Central. The double-decker buses and trams were so unique!!

After refreshing at our accommodation, we headed over to Kowloon Peninsula.
We explored Mong Kok's Temple Street and the Ladies' Market!
And I even bought an I♥HK T-shirt here! Haha.
Coming down towards Tsim Sha Tsui,
we also had milk tea and toast at Lan Fong Yuen.

We took photos at the Tsim Sha Tsui Clock Tower,
and then captured the stunning night views of Victoria Harbour
from the Avenue of Stars! Make sure to catch the Symphony of Lights show
at 8 PM at Victoria Harbour!
We went back to Mong Kok for a late-night snack at Dim Dim Sum
before heading back to the hotel~ haha.
Day 3
Hong Kong Disneyland

Day 3 was the highly anticipated Disneyland!
We took the bus from our hotel, but I really recommend
taking the subway instead... We got so lost taking the bus... ㅠㅠ

Hong Kong Disneyland has an exclusive Early Park Entry Pass
that lets you enter an hour earlier, which isn't available at other Disney parks.
Thanks to the early entry, I was able to quickly ride four popular attractions,
and then I could comfortably take photos and enjoy the rest of the park~ (Highly recommend!)
On weekdays, it seems you don't necessarily need to purchase
DPA (Disney Premier Access). I'd actually recommend the Early Park Entry Pass more!

Day 4
Halfway Sheung Wan → Travel from Hong Kong to Macau → The Parisian Macao → Explore The Venetian Macao → North by Square (北方館) → Wynn Palace Fountain Show

After checking out from our Hong Kong hotel,
before heading to Macau, we stopped at
Halfway Cafe near the Hong Kong Ferry Terminal for a quick brunch!
Just a heads-up, I get pretty seasick, so the ferry ride also
made me a bit queasy... it's a good idea to bring motion sickness medication!

In Macau, we stayed at The Parisian Macao.
Besides this, there are many other 5-star hotels like The Venetian, Grand Lisboa, The Londoner, and Andaz!
You can book according to your preference~
I chose The Parisian Macao because it's a 5-star hotel where you can stay for around ~$75 per night~

After that, we explored Little Venice inside The Venetian Macao,
and had dinner at North by Square (北方館) – it was perfectly suited for Korean palates!
We also checked out the casino, but you need your passport to enter!
Photography isn't allowed, so I don't have any pictures!

The free fountain show in front of Wynn Palace,
or The House of Dancing Water are both great to see.
We went to see the free fountain show at Wynn Palace, but
due to a typhoon, the fountains weren't operating...? Haha.
I regretted not going to the indoor House of Dancing Water instead.
Day 5
Senado Square → Wong Chi Kei (黃枝記) → St. Dominic's Church → Rua da Felicidade (Jerky Street) → Ruins of St. Paul's → Cafe → Macau Airport → Korea

On our last day, we explored Macau's Old Town.
It takes about 45 minutes by bus from The Parisian Macao.
Just set Senado Square as your destination on Google Maps, and you'll be good to go!
Senado Square - St. Dominic's Church - Rua da Felicidade (Jerky Street)
- Ruins of St. Paul's. If you walk this route, you can consider your Old Town exploration
pretty much complete~
We returned to the hotel and took the hotel's complimentary shuttle bus
to Macau Airport.
