For shorter trips, like a quick two or three-day getaway,
a poorly located hotel can eat up a lot of valuable time just getting around.
The place I chose this time was
the Holiday Inn Qingdao City Center!
Its proximity to May Fourth Square and MixC Mall, both within walking distance,
combined with surprisingly spacious rooms,
made it an ideal choice for an independent trip to Qingdao.
01. The Location Near May Fourth Square is Incredibly Convenient
The biggest draw of the Holiday Inn Qingdao City Center
is undoubtedly its location.

It's conveniently situated in the heart of Qingdao's New City
and close to Fushanso Station on Metro Line 2,
making subway travel a breeze.
Located in the commercial district of May Fourth Square,
it's close to Fushanso Station, and MixC Mall is just about a 10-minute walk away.
In fact, many popular Qingdao attractions like
May Fourth Square, the coastal boardwalk, and MixC Mall
are easily bundled into a single day's itinerary.
You can spend your day sightseeing,
then head out in the evening to enjoy the night view of May Fourth Square,
and comfortably walk back to the hotel.
With numerous shopping malls and restaurants nearby,
it's a worry-free choice for first-time visitors to Qingdao.
02. Rooms are Surprisingly Spacious and Relaxing
The first thing that struck me when I entered the room was,
"Wow, this is more spacious than I expected!"
Even with the bed, there was plenty of room, and it was easy to spread out multiple suitcases,
so even with a lot of luggage, it never felt cramped.
The sofa and table next to the bed were perfect for enjoying a simple late-night snack
from a convenience store or supermarket.
Essential amenities like a closet, safe, refrigerator, and coffee/tea facilities
were all well-provided.
It had that signature Holiday Inn vibe – not overly luxurious, but clean, comfortable, and perfectly adequate
for unwinding after a day of sightseeing.
However, since the hotel isn't brand new, you might notice
a bit of age in the bathrooms or some facilities.
Nevertheless, considering the room size and cleanliness,
my satisfaction with this downtown Qingdao accommodation was high.

03. The Indoor Swimming Pool is a Major Plus
One of the reasons I chose this hotel was
the presence of an indoor swimming pool.
Surprisingly, many hotels in downtown Qingdao don't have one.
The Holiday Inn Qingdao City Center features an indoor pool on the 5th floor,
and it's complimentary for guests.
The official pool size is approximately 2,580 square feet (240 square meters),
and current operating hours are 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
Remember to bring your own swimsuit and swim cap.
Don't expect a massive resort-style pool; it's perfectly sized for a refreshing dip after sightseeing
or for kids to splash around.
There's also a fitness center on the same floor,
with official operating hours from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
04. Breakfast: Choose Based on Your Itinerary
The hotel's first-floor Ocean Cafe
offers an international buffet-style breakfast.
With a spread of bread, egg dishes, fruits, salads, and Chinese specialties,
it's a great way to start your day with a hearty meal.
While Qingdao offers many fantastic local breakfast options, making hotel breakfast optional,
it's undeniably convenient if your itinerary is packed
or you're traveling with kids or older family members.
Therefore, I recommend checking the price difference between rooms with and without breakfast
when making your reservation.
