Ho Chi Minh City Bus Tour Review 2026: Night Route

During my trip to Ho Chi Minh City, I decided to hop on the night city bus tour!

I bought my ticket right on the spot without any reservation, and it turned out to be an incredibly budget-friendly experience. Today, I'm sharing my honest review based on my actual experience!

On-site booking is super easy!

You'll find the ticket booth for the night bus tour

right opposite the Rex Hotel. It was so convenient to be able to walk up and get a ticket without having to worry about booking in advance.

While booking ahead is always an option,

when you're busy shopping and

hopping between delicious food spots,

it can be quite tricky to stick to a strict schedule.

Since the Ho Chi Minh City night bus tours

depart frequently,

you don't have to stress about the timing at all.

You can just hop on spontaneously whenever you have some free time,

so there's really no need to book beforehand.

The ticket price was 150,000 VND (around $6).

While the daytime tours seem to have hop-on-hop-off options,

the night tour is a continuous ride

that takes you on a scenic loop all around the city center.

The bright red double-decker bus is easy to spot from a distance,

so you definitely won't get lost finding it!~~

Right ahead, you can see the beautifully lit Ho Chi Minh City Hall.

operates from 4:00 PM to 10:30 PM.

Just a heads up: the bus doesn't set off immediately after you board;

it waits until it fills up with enough passengers before starting the journey.

Be sure to grab a pair of headphones and an information pamphlet

at the bus entrance before heading up to the second floor.

The stairs leading to the upper deck are

at the back of the first floor. The second floor is completely open-air with no roof.

Open-Top 2nd Floor, Wide Open Views

As soon as I sat on the open-top deck,

the cool night breeze rushed in, and the spectacular night views

of Ho Chi Minh City unfolded right before my eyes. The entire city was

glowing with vibrant lights, making it the perfect way to appreciate the skyline.

Once you go upstairs, a staff member

will guide you to your seat. Right in front of your assigned seat,

there's an audio jack where you can plug in your headphones

and select your preferred language guide (including English and Korean) by pressing the buttons.

The midday heat cooled down nicely by the evening.

from the upper deck felt incredibly lively and beautiful.

And off we go!~~

The night views were absolutely stunning

Cruising around Ho Chi Minh City's iconic landmarks

for an hour under the night sky was truly magical.

You'll pass by major spots like City Hall, the Central Post Office, Ben Thanh Market,

and the War Remnants Museum.

The wind gets quite strong on the open deck,

so be careful not to let your hats blow away!~

Each building lights up with stunning digital art,

making the Ho Chi Minh City night bus tour

all the more magical and vibrant.

The highlight definitely has to be when you cross the bridge!

The bridge, glowing in brilliant red light against the cool river breeze,

was absolutely breathtaking. Everyone on board started cheering!

The skyscrapers along the riverfront sparkle and shine,

as if competing to show off their dazzling presence!

Looking down from the double-decker bus, you can really see how much

Ho Chi Minh City loves its parks. There were so many locals

out and about, relaxing and enjoying the evening breeze.

One of the most unique things about Ho Chi Minh City is its street cafe culture.

I listened to the audio guide say, "If you wake up in Saigon and the street cafes

are gone, it is no longer Saigon." Hearing that while watching

people chatting on little plastic stools along the pavement

made the moment feel incredibly authentic.

While having the audio guide via headphones is definitely a plus,

to be honest, it was a little different from what I expected.

Rather than giving real-time, detailed info on the specific landmarks we were passing,

it focused more on the general history and culture of Ho Chi Minh City.

Personally, I think it would have been much better

if it had been more of a live-guided style, like,

"The building you see on your right is..."

to match what we were looking at in the moment.

Spotting "Matchandle Wang Sgogumguoi" (Korean BBQ)!

You'll actually spot quite a few Korean signs along the way.

Even with the slightly disappointing audio guide, the night views

themselves were so spectacular that I was completely satisfied. Spending an hour

breezing past Ho Chi Minh's best night landmarks for just 150,000 VND (about $6)

is honestly hard to beat!

While the audio guide was a bit of a letdown, the gorgeous night views more than made up for it.
