In the often-hot climate of Ho Chi Minh, this tour offers a comfortable and cool way to see the beautiful nightscapes of major landmarks.
It's truly a top-value experience!

2. Why I Recommend the Night Bus Tour for Your Ho Chi Minh Trip

✅ A Cool and Comfortable Way to Explore
Ho Chi Minh City, unlike some other Southeast Asian destinations, can be quite hot, both day and night.
That's where the Ho Chi Minh bus tour comes in handy. You can comfortably sit back, relax, and enjoy the night views in a cool environment.
Being an open-top double-decker city bus, it's surprisingly refreshing!

✅ See All the Major Landmarks at Once!
Starting from Ho Chi Minh Square, the route takes you past:
📍 Independence Palace
📍 Notre Dame Cathedral
📍 Central Post Office
📍 Opera House
📍 Ben Thanh Market
📍 Turtle Lake and more,
even crossing over to the other side of the Saigon River.

It's the perfect itinerary for first-time visitors to Ho Chi Minh!
3. My Review of the Ho Chi Minh Night Bus Tour

I hopped on the bus around 7:00 PM for the night view tour.
After 4:00 PM, you can exchange your ticket at Nguyen Hue Street, right in front of the Opera House.
There was no need for on-site payment; I just used my pre-booked ticket.
Fun fact: this was actually my second time taking the Ho Chi Minh bus tour!

From my experience, I'd say that later in the evening, when traffic is lighter, is much better for sightseeing than during rush hour.
Around 8:00 PM, the city center can get quite crowded, which might slow down the tour and prevent you from seeing all the landmarks I mentioned earlier.

So, I personally recommend taking the Ho Chi Minh City bus after 9:00 PM for a more relaxed experience!

📌 Bus Seating Tip
While there's usually plenty of seating, making it generally comfortable for enjoying the night views, I'd say the best spot for prime viewing is the right-hand side of the upper deck.
Keep in mind that the bus doesn't move at a high speed, so some passengers might stand up to take photos at popular spots. Just something to be aware of!

4. Ho Chi Minh Tour Bus Riding Tips

Getting on the bus is super easy.
However, to make your Ho Chi Minh trip even more rewarding with the bus tour, I personally recommend having Google Maps open on your phone!
Since the bus tour itself isn't super expensive, it's a great casual way to look around.
Because of this, the onboard commentary or guided explanations aren't always the most detailed.

By using Google Maps as you go, you can easily get descriptions of the places you're passing and pinpoint their exact locations.
This little trick can make your Ho Chi Minh City adventure so much richer!
5. Final Thoughts

The Ho Chi Minh City night bus tour I've shared above is an itinerary you definitely don't want to miss during your travels.
I took it on my first trip to Ho Chi Minh, and then again when I visited with my parents. Both times were fantastic!
It was a new experience even the second time, and my parents absolutely loved it.
It's much more comfortable and fun than just walking around.
Remember, booking your Ho Chi Minh tour bus in advance is cheaper and more convenient than buying tickets on the spot, so be sure to plan ahead!
Same-day booking is also available! You just need to use it within 30 days of purchase, so buy it in advance and use it whenever the weather is perfect for sightseeing :)
