"Struggling to plan your Ho Chi Minh City itinerary?"
Most of Ho Chi Minh's main attractions are clustered around District 1.
Once you've ticked off the major sights during the day,
grabbed a coffee, got a massage, and browsed Ben Thanh Market,
you might find yourself wondering what to do with your evening.

If that sounds like you, the absolute best tour to add to your list is
the Ho Chi Minh City Tour Night Bus!
Riding a double-decker bus
to cruise past the city's most iconic landmarks is a must-do,
and the Night Tour
is the perfect, low-effort activity to wrap up your day.
In this post, I'll break down
the different Hop-On Hop-Off ticket options,
how to book and board,
and share my honest ride experience!
Choosing Your Ho Chi Minh Hop-On Hop-Off City Tour Bus Option

The Ho Chi Minh Hop-On Hop-Off
City Tour Bus offers
several options depending on the route, ticket type, time slot, and add-ons.
✅ Step 1: Choose Your Route
📍City Center Route
✔️Covers main attractions in District 1
✔️Includes the Opera House, Ben Thanh Market, Nguyen Hue Walking Street, etc.
✔️The perfect route for first-time visitors to Ho Chi Minh City
👉 Highly recommended if you want to focus on the main landmarks!
📍Saigon-Cholon Route
✔️Extends out to the Chinatown (Cholon) area
✔️Great if you want to soak in local life and a unique neighborhood vibe
👉 Recommended if you're looking for a slightly different side of the city
✅ Step 2: Choose Your Ticket Type
📍Single-Loop Ticket (No hop-off)
✔️One full loop of the designated route
✔️You cannot hop off and back on along the way
✔️Super popular choice for night tours
👉 Perfect if you want a relaxing, quick overview of the city!
📍4-Hour or 24-Hour Pass
✔️Unlimited hop-on, hop-off privileges within the time limit
👉 Best if you want to explore each sightseeing spot at your own pace!
In addition to these, you can choose your preferred time slot
and whether to bundle it with attraction entry tickets.
✅ Which option should you choose?
📍If you want to catch the city lights:
➡️ City Center Route + Single-Loop Ticket + Evening Slot
📍If you want to explore the sites up close:
➡️ City Center Route + 4-Hour or 24-Hour Pass + Morning/Daytime Slot
Out of all these options, my absolute favorite combo is:
👉 City Center Route + Single-Loop Ticket + Evening Slot!
The single-loop ticket lets you cruise through the city's key landmarks
in about an hour. Since there's no hopping on and off,
you don't have to stress about navigation—
you can just kick back and enjoy the sparkling night views.
Booking an evening slot means you get to see the city transition from dusk to night,
revealing a completely different, energetic side of Ho Chi Minh City
compared to the daytime. It was absolutely gorgeous!
Plus, the cool evening breeze makes the whole ride so refreshing.
How to Book and Board the Ho Chi Minh City Tour Bus

You can book tickets for the Ho Chi Minh City Tour Bus
either on-site or online in advance.
However, if you're traveling during busy weekends or public holidays,
the lines on-site can get crazy long. If your dates are set,
I highly recommend booking online ahead of time.
I compared prices between MyRealTrip and Klook,
and Klook turned out to be slightly cheaper.

How to board the Ho Chi Minh City Tour Bus:
Head to the designated meeting point provided after booking,
and simply show your booking barcode to the staff at the ticket booth or on-site (they wear uniforms! ⭕).
Once they scan your barcode,
they’ll guide you right onto the bus.
This is where I boarded ⬇️here⬇️.
📍 Night City Tour Boarding Location
92-94-96 Nguyễn Huệ, Bến Nghé, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

For the night tour, I highly recommend sitting on the second floor!
During the day, the air-conditioned first floor is a lifesaver from the heat,
but for the night tour where you get to soak in the city lights, the open-top second floor is definitely the way to go.
As for the best time to board, try catching it around sunset.
That way, you get to catch both the gorgeous sunset glow and the dazzling night views!
Ho Chi Minh City Tour Bus Night Tour Review

After boarding, we waited just a moment before taking off!

On the day tour, you'd usually listen to audio guides through the provided earphones,
but on the night tour, they play
an audio guide (in English) over the bus speakers for everyone to hear.

Starting from the Ho Chi Minh City Hall (People's Committee Building),
the tour takes you past the Saigon Central Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral,
War Remnants Museum, Independence Palace, Ben Thanh Market, Ba Son Bridge,
Bach Dang Wharf, Bui Vien Walking Street, and more.
It cruises past almost all of Ho Chi Minh City's major landmarks,
making it an incredibly comprehensive tour.

During peak hours, you might get a little caught up in the sea of commuting motorbikes,
but looking down at the endless flow of motorbikes from the second floor
was actually a super fun and unique experience in itself!

For me, the absolute highlight of the city tour bus has to be
crossing the Ba Son Bridge.
The twinkling cityscape of Ho Chi Minh stretching along the river
was pure magic and so incredibly vibrant. It really left an impression!
✅Perfect for when your evening plans in Ho Chi Minh City are up in the air
✅When you want to sightsee without walking in the humid heat
✅An absolute must for family trips with parents or kids
If you find yourself with a free evening in Ho Chi Minh City,
or if you're traveling with parents or young children,
the Ho Chi Minh City Tour Bus Night Tour
is a wonderfully relaxed and hassle-free way to spend your evening.
