Henann Tawala Resort Bohol Review 2026: Pool Access & Family Guide
Discover why Henann Tawala Resort is Bohol's top family choice. Get the inside scoop on pool access rooms, breakfast buffets, and crucial resort rules for 2026.
Hey fellow explorers! If you're planning a family getaway to Bohol, finding the right accommodation can make or break your trip. In my experience, booking a stay at one of the Henann properties is hands down the safest and best bet for an unforgettable vacation!
During my recent trip to Bohol, I stayed at the Henann Tawala Resort, and I was absolutely thrilled with the experience. Here's my honest, deep-dive review for anyone planning a trip in 2026.
1. Choosing Your Henann Resort in Bohol
Before we dive into Tawala, it helps to know that there are actually three different Henann resorts in Bohol:
- Henann Premier Coast Resort
- Henann Alona Beach Resort
- Henann Tawala Resort
If you're looking for the ultimate luxury "staycation" with pristine ocean views and brand-new facilities, Henann Premier Coast is the newest addition. It boasts a stunning infinity pool where you can swim while gazing out at the sea.
Next up is Henann Alona Beach Resort. It offers a great balance of ocean views and a fantastic, vibrant pool atmosphere.
Finally, there's Henann Tawala Resort! Known for being the most budget-friendly of the three, it's perfect for travelers who plan on spending most of their days out on island-hopping tours rather than lounging at the hotel 24/7. This is where I chose to stay.
The pool area here is incredibly kid-friendly, making it a massive hit for family vacations. If you have kids (or adults!) who love the water, I highly recommend booking a Pool Access Room. You can step right off your private terrace and into the water. It's a game-changer!
🚨 Crucial Rule to Note: No Outside Food!
One downside you must be aware of: the resort strictly prohibits outside meals. You cannot bring in fast food like Jollibee or McDonald's, and food delivery apps like Grab are not allowed (they explicitly tell you this at check-in). You can bring small snacks, cup noodles, or fruit from home, but full takeout meals are a no-go.
2. Security Deposit & Currency Exchange Tips
The Deposit:
Henann Tawala requires a security deposit of 2,000 PHP per night. If you're staying for 3-4 nights, that's 6,000-8,000 PHP tied up. I highly recommend using a credit card rather than cash. It's just a pre-authorization hold that automatically drops off after you check out, so you won't actually be billed. It's much more convenient than handing over a large stack of cash!
Currency Exchange at the Resort
Surprisingly, the resort offers a very competitive exchange rate. Instead of bringing small bills from home (like exchanging ~$38 equivalents directly), your best strategy is to bring crisp US Dollars and exchange them at the resort. I actually found the hotel's rate to be better than the local exchange booths in town! Rates fluctuate daily, so just do a quick comparison before you swap your cash.
3. Inside the Deluxe Pool Access Room
I booked the Deluxe Pool Access Room, which accommodates up to 3 adults. It's an ideal setup for families or a small group of friends.
The room comes standard with 1 Queen Bed and 1 Single Bed. This layout is consistent across all rooms of this type.
Because Pool Access rooms are exclusively located on the ground floor, there aren't many of them available. They are incredibly popular and book up fast, so if you want one, lock in your reservation early!
One minor thing to note: because the terrace opens directly to the pool, the room can feel a tiny bit humid when you first check in compared to upper-floor rooms. However, once you blast the AC for a bit, the humidity completely disappears.
The room is very spacious! There's plenty of room to lay out large suitcases, and a nice vanity/desk area. Even with three women traveling with lots of luggage, we never felt cramped. The bedding was pristine, and housekeeping did a fantastic job cleaning every day.
Since I booked for three people, the hotel had proactively set up an extra bed for us. But honestly, the Queen + Single combo was more than enough space, so we ended up having them remove the extra bed to give us more floor space.
The open wardrobe has plenty of hangers, plush robes, and—since Bohol gets its fair share of tropical rain—two large umbrellas. No need to pack your own!
The terrace is wonderfully spacious. But the real MVP feature is, of course, stepping right into the pool. If you stay on a higher floor, you have to pack a bag with towels, water, and gear, take the elevator down, and find a chair. Here? Just put on your swimsuit, open your sliding door, and jump in.
We swam to our hearts' content every single day—even after coming back exhausted from island-hopping tours!
The bathroom is equally impressive. It's large, spotless, and features a separate bathtub and shower stall. All the basic toiletries and amenities are provided.
4. The Swimming Pool & Beach Access
Pool Hours: 8:00 AM – 8:30 PM
Unlike Premier Coast or Alona Beach, Tawala's pool doesn't offer ocean views. Also, a quick heads-up: guests at Tawala cannot pool-hop to the other Henann resorts. You must stick to your specific resort's pool.
HOWEVER, as a Tawala guest, you do get access to the private beachfront at Henann Alona Beach! Anyone can walk the public beach, but only guests can use the resort's private sunbeds. It's a gorgeous spot to relax on days when you aren't out on a boat tour.
5. Breakfast Buffet
Hours: 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM
The breakfast spread at Henann Tawala is massive and very clean. However, to be completely honest, while there are tons of options (Filipino, Western, Japanese, Korean), I found the actual flavors to be just okay.
The daily menu doesn't rotate much during a 4-day stay. But the standout for me was the live noodle station—I happily ate a fresh bowl of noodles every single morning!
The best part about breakfast is that it opens at 6:00 AM. If you have an early morning island-hopping tour, you have plenty of time to fuel up before your pickup.
6. Final Verdict: Highly Recommended for Families
Bohol is a premier destination for family travel, and you definitely want a resort that delivers on quality and comfort. The Henann properties are relatively new, immaculately maintained, and offer fantastic service.
If you're traveling with family—or just love the idea of rolling out of bed into a swimming pool—Henann Tawala Resort will not disappoint!
