After spending an action-packed morning with my child at the Busan 119 Safety Experience Center,
I decided to revisit a nostalgic spot
that holds so many of my favorite school-day memories.
If you ask any Busan local about the ultimate comfort food,
they will point you straight to this place.
This is Hana Tonkatsu Oncheon, the absolute main branch of Busan's legendary pork cutlet empire.

Cozy & Nostalgic Vibes Inside

It had been a while since my last visit,
and I was amazed to see it is still just as popular, even on a weekday afternoon.
When I first arrived around 12:30 PM,
the wait time was about 40 minutes.
Instead of waiting, I decided to take a stroll
and came back after 2:30 PM. It was the perfect move—the rush was completely gone!
While there is a comfortable waiting area at the entrance,
I highly recommend avoiding the peak lunch rush
if you prefer a relaxed, leisurely meal.

The indoor seating capacity is quite decent, with plenty of tables.
Since this is a spot I have been visiting since my high school days,
decades have flown by, yet the restaurant remains
incredibly clean and well-maintained.
You can feel the passage of time, but it does not feel run-down at all.
Instead, it feels warm, welcoming, and full of nostalgic charm.

Arriving after the lunch rush meant we scored a beautiful,
sun-drenched window seat where we could fully relax
and enjoy our afternoon.

We opted for the hearty, classic Loin Cutlet (180g) and
the crowd-favorite Mozzarella Cheese Roll Cutlet.

Each table is stocked with tonkatsu sauce, salad dressing,
pickled yellow radish, and spicy kkakdugi. You can serve yourself as much as you like.

After a short wait, our freshly fried cutlets arrived!

Before you take your first bite, there is a crucial, satisfying ritual you must perform:
grinding the toasted sesame seeds in your mini mortar and pestle!
As the nutty, rich aroma fills the air,
pour a generous amount of tonkatsu sauce over the ground seeds
and mix. Now, you are ready to feast!

The presentation alone is an absolute 10 out of 10.
With perfectly glossy white rice, a warm bowl of savory miso soup,
and a mountain of crisp, shredded cabbage salad,
it is an incredibly satisfying and complete meal.

The moment you take a bite, the pork literally melts in your mouth
with zero gamey odor. It is unbelievably tender!
Each thick slice bursts with rich, savory juices.
Even after all these years, the flavor still absolutely blew me away! haha

Next up: the Mozzarella Cheese Roll Cutlet!

An explosion of gooey, melted mozzarella wrapped in an ultra-crispy, golden panko shell...
honestly, no explanation needed! It is pure perfection.

Dip it deep into that freshly ground sesame sauce
for the ultimate bite. Absolute heaven!!
