Hakata Osushimachi Fukuoka Review 2026: Fresh Sushi Lunch Near Hakata Station

My Honest Review

During my trip to Fukuoka last June 2026, I was on the hunt for a great lunch spot near Hakata Station when I stumbled upon Hakata Osushimachi (博多オスシマチ). It's incredibly convenient, located on the 2nd floor of the JRJP Hakata Building, making it super easy to pop in during your travels.

Approximately a 3-minute walk from the Hakata Exit (博多口) of JR Hakata Station.

Atmosphere

It's easy to find the JRJP Hakata Building once you exit Hakata Station through the Hakata Exit (博多口). Its proximity to the station makes it a great choice if you're traveling with luggage or if you happen to be visiting on a rainy day.

I visited during lunchtime and was pleasantly surprised by the relaxed ambiance, making it perfect for a casual meal during my trip.

What I was most excited for here was, of course, the sushi! Hakata Osushimachi doesn't feel like a traditional sushi restaurant; it’s more of an izakaya-style spot where you can enjoy both fresh seafood and sushi. Looking at the menu, with everything from tuna to a wide variety of other seafood dishes, I found myself deliberating over what to order.

Omikuji Chopstick Sleeves? A Fun Surprise!

There was a delightful little detail here that I found quite charming. The paper wrapping around the chopsticks wasn't just a plain sleeve! It turned out to be an Omikuji, like a fortune slip, adding a fun element of surprise when you unwrap your chopsticks and unfold the paper.

Who knew I'd get a mini fortune-telling session while waiting for my sushi? 😂 These small, thoughtful touches really make a Japanese travel experience extra special. I was thrilled to get 'Daikichi' (great blessing)!

Lunch Menu

Ordering is conveniently done via QR code. I opted for the 8-piece lunch set, which I recall was around ~$10. I tried to find the exact price on their website later, but it wasn't listed, suggesting their lunch menu might change daily.

Lunch service kicks off at 12:00 PM, and on weekdays, there's a break time after lunch. If you're looking for a casual sushi or seafood meal close to Hakata Station, this spot is definitely worth adding to your itinerary. After indulging in ramen and motsunabe, switching it up with a sushi lunch was a refreshing change of pace. 😋

In fact, I enjoyed a little sushi here before heading off for ramen afterward! I walked in without high expectations, but the freshness of the neta (sushi topping) and the deliciousness of the sushi truly impressed me. I'd definitely return to Hakata Osushimachi for lunch if I'm ever near Hakata Station again.

Overall Impression

If you're looking for fresh sushi near Hakata Station or a quick, satisfying lunch during your travels, Hakata Osushimachi is a fantastic option. The neta was incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious!

Even though I found this sushi spot on the fly, I highly recommend checking it out if you're planning a trip to Fukuoka and craving some amazing sushi!
