✔️ Insider Waiting Tips
·If you're planning to visit on a weekend or during evening peak hours, making a reservation is highly recommended!
·There are several sister branches, so if this location is full,
they might even guide you to a nearby branch.
Exterior / Interior
The exterior is simple, with the restaurant's name subtly displayed.
Inside, it buzzes with a lively izakaya atmosphere, complete with counter seating, tables, and even private rooms.

With an open kitchen, you can actually watch the traditional robatayaki grilling process unfold,
which adds to the fun and gives you something exciting to watch.
The vibrant and friendly staff also made the atmosphere even more delightful.

Another huge plus is the super clean restroom located right inside the restaurant.
It's a small detail that makes a big difference!

Hakata Kitaro Sushi's star attractions are its
incredibly fresh sushi and traditional robatayaki (fireside-grilling) dishes.

They provide a Korean menu, so ordering is a breeze!
Another cool feature is that they personally bring out the raw ingredients for the grilled dishes and explain them.
That's truly unique!

Review
Honestly, we initially planned to go to the famous 'Musashiza' but couldn't get a seat.
So we were led here instead, and it turned out to be even better!

The assorted sashimi
was beautifully plated with two pieces of each type.
The tuna, in particular, just melted in my mouth!

For the grilled squid,
they had the charming touch of drawing a cute squid with mayonnaise!
It was fun to look at,
and cut into bite-sized pieces, making it absolutely perfect as a snack with drinks.

The grilled salmon roe and salmon belly
featured salmon roe atop tender salmon,
creating an impressive texture that popped delightfully in my mouth.

The jumbo shrimp
was brought to us already cut into easy-to-eat pieces after we finished taking photos.

The grilled sardines
were perfectly grilled to a golden brown, and the flesh was moist and savory.

The unexpected star of the show that day was the Yuzu Sour!
Its sweet and tangy flavor paired so perfectly with the grilled dishes that I ended up only drinking Yuzu Sour throughout the rest of my Fukuoka trip.
(I didn't take a picture, so I'm using a lemon sour photo instead..)

Overall Impression
Even though we stumbled upon this place by chance,
the lively atmosphere, fresh ingredients, and friendly service
were all incredibly satisfying.
✔️ Just a 2-minute walk from Tenjin-Minami Station – unbeatable accessibility!
✔️ Korean menu available, making ordering a breeze!
✔️ Experience a truly authentic izakaya vibe, packed with locals!
Near Tenjin and Nakasu,
if you're looking to soak in that authentic local izakaya atmosphere,
I highly recommend Hakata Kitaro Sushi!
