A Review of Eating Assorted Marinated Octopus, Crab, and Abalone​

You know those days when you just intensely crave gyejang (marinated crab)!

While traveling in Busan (부산), I heard there was a famous gyejang restaurant in Haeundae Marine City (마린시티), so I went straight there!

The Do Gyejang is a restaurant you can trust, as it was first certified as a great restaurant in Yangsan (양산)!

I'll give you a detailed introduction, from the menu to the restaurant's atmosphere.

Just a little spoiler:

I had the assorted marinated seafood platter which includes ganjang-gejang (marinated raw crab in soy sauce), yangnyeom-gejang (spicy marinated raw crab), marinated abalone, marinated shrimp, and marinated octopus – and it was so delicious, I ate two bowls of rice!

Things You Must Know Before Visiting 💡

Haeundae The Do Gyejang is a Korean restaurant located near Marine City, just a 20-minute walk from Haeundae Beach (해운대 해수욕장).

With on-site parking available, it's a Haeundae Korean restaurant where you don't have to worry about parking if you visit by car.

Exploring The Do Gyejang's Interior 👀

The Do Gyejang, located in Haeundae Marine City, has parking available, so it's great if you visit by car!

But since it's just a 20-minute walk from Haeundae Beach, it's also a pretty good location to stroll to.

Opened in June 2026, the restaurant is incredibly clean, from its exterior to its interior.

The restaurant's atmosphere was clean, as expected from a great Korean restaurant, and the spacious table arrangement made it feel comfortable.

With high chairs available, it's a fantastic Haeundae Marine City restaurant to visit with children.

From Deodo Gejang (더도게장)'s signature Assorted Jang (모듬장),

to grilled fish, yellow crab jang, spicy marinated crab, abalone jang, and more,

What did I choose?!

After deliberating over what to eat,

I decided on the Assorted Jang (모듬장) which includes six kinds of marinated seafood:

crab jang (꽃게장), emperor soy-marinated crab (황제 간장게장), emperor spicy marinated crab (황제 양념게장),

abalone jang (전복장), octopus jang (낙지장), and shrimp jang (새우장).

Nutritious stone pot rice also comes with it,

making it a hearty and satisfying meal.

My Honest Review of the Assorted Jang

First, a shot of the side dishes!

True to its reputation as a Korean food hotspot in Haeundae (해운대), the basic side dishes are plentiful.

Grilled fish, jeon (savory pancakes), spicy crab stew, pork bulgogi in a hot pot, and more –

the seasoning isn't too strong and the taste is clean,

so much so that I could easily finish a bowl of rice just with the side dishes.

The reason I chose the Deodo Gejang Assorted Jang was because

for ₩28,000 (~$21) per person,

you can savor a wide variety of marinated crabs and seafood.

If you want to try soy-marinated crab (간장게장)🦀,

spicy marinated crab (양념게장)🦀,

and also other types of jang as side dishes,

I highly recommend the Assorted Jang.

The reason Haeundae Deodeogejang (해운대 더도 게장) was so special

was because they didn't use any artificial seasonings.

Without that characteristic greasy and dull taste of artificial flavorings,

it had a savory and incredibly clean taste.

It wasn't ganjang gejang (soy-marinated crab) with an overly strong salty flavor,

so it wasn't overwhelming, which I actually preferred.

They only use Jeju yellow crab from a pristine area,

and perhaps because they prepare it so meticulously,

I didn't taste any of the unique bitterness

often found in yellow crab innards.

Instead, with its rich yet clean flavor,

I immediately understood why it was certified as a must-visit restaurant

in Yangsan (양산) first.

This is it!!

Even looking at the photos again, I can still feel this taste!

I want to take another big bite right now!

Eating it with rice, eating it with seaweed, eating just the marinated crab –

I just couldn't stop eating the Deodeogejang Assorted Marinated Crabs!

This taste is truly difficult to describe in words.

This concludes my review of Deodeogejang,

a place you'll definitely want to revisit once you've been!
