Gunsan Accommodation Location (Guesthouse Daho)

Guesthouse Daho, a Japanese-style accommodation in Gunsan,

is located **within a 10-minute walk** of Gunsan's main attractions.

That's why I recommend it for pedestrian travelers!

Plus, it's **right in front of Lee Sung Dang Bakery**, so you can even do an 'open run'!

There's a free public parking lot right in front of the guesthouse,

so even if you're not traveling on foot, you can park your car

and easily explore the area.

Guesthouse Daho offers rooms ranging from doubles to quad rooms,

which works out to be **around ~$28-~$35 per person**.

The prices are similar to other guesthouses in Gunsan.

**But** you also get to experience a Japanese-style accommodation,

and each room has its own private bathroom,

so I felt it offered **excellent value for money**.

You can **choose between an ondol room (floor sleeping) and a bedded room**,

but there are only three bedded rooms, and they were fully booked,

Although it was great to experience a traditional Japanese house properly,

for those who prefer a bedded room,

it's best to check availability quickly.

Japanese-style accommodation renovated from a 'Jeoksan House'

A 'Jeoksan House' literally means 'enemy property'.

Guesthouse Daho, **renovated from a building once used by Japanese occupants**, exudes a Japanese feel

right from its exterior.

You must take off your shoes before entering.

Once you open the sliding door and step inside, you'll find a shoe rack on your right.

As you go further in, you'll discover a narrow, long hallway,

leading to a steep staircase up to the second floor.

Climbing these stairs truly makes you feel like you've been transported to Japan.

Right at the entrance of the second floor, you'll find essentials like a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee pot.

They even provide thoughtful amenities like wooden chopsticks and earplugs.

It's a testament to the owner's wonderful attention to detail!

Breakfast is also provided; you can simply help yourself to bread and drinks.

There's a toaster available and jam too.

It's simple, but perfect for a quick and easy start to your day.

Venturing further inside, you'll find the guest rooms thoughtfully arranged in an L-shape.

It's striking to think how Japanese residents, coming to another country,

built and lived in such lovely homes like this.

Inside Room 201

I imagine most of the ondol rooms on the second floor are quite similar.

While the room is cozy, it's impeccably clean and neat.

Room 201 can accommodate up to three people,

though personally, I'd recommend it for two, given its cozy size.

Of course, if you're just looking for a place to sleep, three would be perfectly fine.

The bedding isn't overly thin or uncomfortable when you lie down.

Since it's an ondol room, you can enjoy a wonderfully warm floor while you sleep,

and with early March in Gunsan being surprisingly chilly, the ondol heating was an absolute blessing.

You can easily adjust both the heating and hot water temperatures in your room.

Plus, there's an air conditioner that handles both heating and cooling,

making it a comfortable stay no matter the season.

While there isn't a separate wardrobe, you'll find hangers thoughtfully placed on the wall,

along with a small table and a mirror.

Pro-tip: there are also power outlets behind the mirror!

Most guesthouses feature shared bathrooms, but here,

each room comes with its very own private bathroom (with shower).

What's more, the bathroom is surprisingly spacious!

There were plenty of towels,

and the amenities included fragrant Himalayan herbs.

The hair dryer was also a good size, which made drying long hair a breeze.

There's even a handy shelf above the toilet paper for your phone.

Given it's an older building, even after the renovation, I didn't have high expectations for the bathroom,

but it had everything I needed and was sparkling clean, so I was really satisfied!

To sum it all up,

for anyone looking for a Japanese-style accommodation in Gunsan that boasts a great location and excellent value for money,

I highly recommend Guesthouse Daho!

However, as it's an older building, it can be sensitive to noise,

and the rooms aren't overly spacious, so it's good to keep that in mind when choosing.
