Chalet Abendrot Grindelwald: Eiger North Face View, Value (2026)

If you're planning a stay in Grindelwald, why not wake up to an unparalleled Eiger North Face view?

Many popular chalets require booking a year in advance, and hotels or Airbnbs can be quite expensive.

But I found a place that perfectly balances incredible views with excellent value!

Why I Chose Chalet Abendrot

Before selecting accommodation in Grindelwald, it's essential to define your priorities. Here were mine:

1. Self-Catering Facilities

- Surprisingly, many places don't offer cooking facilities! In Switzerland, where prices can be steep, having a kitchen is a huge money-saver.

2. Eiger North Face Views (Photo Opportunities!)

- Switzerland is stunning, and for a honeymoon, photos are paramount! While Grindelwald itself is picturesque everywhere you walk, I personally felt it wasn't necessary to splurge excessively on a room with a view. Chalet Abendrot delivered the perfect balance of affordability and a decent vista.

3. Close to Train/Bus Stations (Easy Transport)

- Hauling heavy luggage is no fun, so proximity to public transport was a must!

4. Under ~$226 per Night

5. Not Too Small (Lots of Luggage!)

Chalet Abendrot met all these criteria, making it the perfect choice for our trip!

How to Book Chalet Abendrot

Chalet Abendrot is managed by Interhome Switzerland. You typically have two booking options:

1. Reserve directly via the Interhome website

2. Book through Agoda

I found Agoda to be slightly more affordable and convenient, so that's how I made my reservation.

When you search for "Abendrot" on booking sites, you'll see various numbers after the name. Apartment 10 offers the absolute best view!

Apartment 10 is located on the highest floor, right in the center, providing an unobstructed, expansive view – it's truly the best!

And so, I booked Apartment 10!

My 3-Night Review of Chalet Abendrot Apartment 10

We arrived after 7:00 PM, past reception hours, so we headed to the mailbox area (the orange circled section in the photo above).

Upon opening the Interhome mailbox,

we found an envelope with our reservation name on it! Inside was the key to our apartment. (๑･̑◡･̑๑)

There's even an elevator here! It's spacious enough for two adults and two large suitcases. Head up to the 4th (top) floor, and you'll find Apartment 10, also known as E032 (use E032 when searching on the Interhome site!).

To the left is the entrance door, and once you open it, this inviting space greets you! Immediately to the left of the entrance is the kitchen, and straight ahead is the living room, complete with a sofa, coffee table, and a dining table. The space is wonderfully generous.

The kitchen is well-equipped with most utensils you'd need, and there's even a microwave (earlier reviews mentioned there wasn't one, so this was a pleasant surprise!).

The bathroom looks like this! It's actually more spacious than it appears in photos. This is a dry bathroom, so make sure to always use the shower curtain and shower inside the tub!

Also, only two towels per person (a total of four) are provided, so it's a good idea to bring extra towels (perhaps old ones you can discard) if you anticipate needing more. Other than that, the bathroom was clean and perfectly fine!

To the right of the living room, there's a bed, which was surprisingly comfortable! ´〰`

There's a window by the bed, and the view from it is simply incredible... Even a quick snapshot captures this stunning scenery...❤️

Now, for the moment you've been waiting for... the terrace view!!!! Drumroll, please!

A living painting....!!! You absolutely don't need to book an outrageously expensive place to capture views like this. ❤️ (While Abendrot isn't "cheap," for Grindelwald, this price point is genuinely excellent value!)

From the incredible views to the delicious meals we cooked, our stay at Chalet Abendrot was pure bliss. The weather in Grindelwald was perfect during our visit, and the accommodation exceeded our expectations. We were truly happy! 💛

I'd heard that March weather in Switzerland could be unpredictable, so I was quite worried. However, it didn't rain once during our stay; every day was bright and sunny ☀️. It even felt warmer than back home! So, if you're planning a trip in March, my experience might give you a little hope!
