Recommended Hotels on Nanjing Road East, Shanghai
Hello, I'm Yungmad.
Having visited Shanghai twice,
I've come to realize that for accommodation,
I highly recommend staying in the Nanjing Road East area.
Nanjing Road East definitely offers convenient travel routes,
making it super easy to get to great restaurants and shopping spots.
I stayed at Greencourt Residence, located near the No. 1 Department Store on Nanjing Road East.
It was a place where I was completely satisfied with everything from room condition and price range to location.

2. The Shanghai Hotel Experience

With its convenient location and excellent transport links,
Shanghai Greencourt Residence truly shined!
It was incredibly convenient being just a 5-minute walk to Nanjing Road East, the heart of the city...
I could put my name down for a table at Henjiuyi Qian (No. 1 Department Store), which often has a long wait, then relax at the residence until it was time to head back.
And if I forgot to buy something on my shopping list, Nanjing Road East was right around the corner, making it super easy to pop out and grab it!

The hotel is situated on a wide boulevard,
so I felt completely safe walking around even late at night.
Check-in: 2 PM / Check-out: 12 PM
3. Studio Plus Room

The room I stayed in was the standard Studio Plus room type.
This room can accommodate up to 2 adults,
but if there are 3 of you, they also have family rooms, so I recommend choosing one of those.
Since it's a residence-style hotel,
there are so many room types to choose from! Haha

Near the entrance, there was a kitchen area,
equipped with an induction hob, pots, pans, a microwave, and more.
It was really well-stocked!
For those who didn't opt for breakfast,
it's perfect for cooking your own meals here.
If you're worried about the spices in Chinese food,
you can easily cook ramen you brought from home
or prepare other dishes here, which is incredibly useful.

You'll find all the dishes and cooking utensils you need. :)

The space was also generous enough that even with two large suitcases open,
there was still plenty of room. The bedding was spotless,
and the daily room cleaning was excellent,
so I was really satisfied.
Honestly, accommodations make up half the experience of any trip,
and since the hotel I encountered right after arriving at the airport
exceeded my expectations, my Shanghai trip was a success! :)

The table space was also quite spacious,
making it great for cooking, enjoying takeout or delivery,
or even getting some work done.

Inside the closet, there were plenty of hangers and
ample drawers, enough even for a long-term stay.
They even had an iron, ironing board, and umbrella available,
so you don't need to bother bringing an umbrella all the way from home!

Here's the view from the 8th floor. :)
Honestly, after seeing hotels with Oriental Pearl Tower views,
this kind of view might seem a bit unexciting...!
But for around ~$73,
I think it's not bad at all. Hahaha
I couldn't take photos, so here's a quick video of the bathroom instead:

The bathroom was also quite clean and well-maintained,
and the amenities included a toothbrush, razor,
along with large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

Oh, and as you walk through the hallways or ride the elevators,
you'll notice robots roaming around independently.
If you request a service or order delivery,
you won't have to bother going down to the lobby,
as the robots bring it right to you – super convenient!
4. Breakfast

Breakfast Hours
06:30 ~ 10:00
Rates
Adults: 78 Yuan
Children (ages 4-12): 40 Yuan
Children aged 3 and under: Free
Breakfast is served buffet-style
at the ground floor restaurant.

There was a great selection of Chinese and Asian dishes,
alongside simple Western options like
salads, bread, ham, and eggs.

They even had live cooking stations for noodles and eggs,
which meant I could enjoy a hearty meal
every single morning.
Overall, the food selection was fantastic, and without
any overpowering spice smells, I was truly
satisfied with breakfast every morning! :)
