Grano Trattoria
When planning a trip to Rome, finding a memorable dining experience is always high on the list. I'm excited to share a review of a restaurant that truly stood out during my recent visit: Grano Trattoria, a charming spot where you can try a rather unique dish – pistachio pasta!
1. A Roman Restaurant with Inviting Atmosphere
📍 Grano Trattoria
Via Celsa, 7, 00186 Roma RM, Italy
Operating Hours | 11:20 AM - 10:00 PM |
Closed | None |
Reservations Required | Yes |

Before my trip to Rome, I made sure to book as many restaurants as possible in advance, and Grano Trattoria was one of them. With over 6,700 Google reviews and an impressive 4.7-star rating, it's clear this place is a local favorite. Honestly, Rome has dozens of fantastic restaurants, making it incredibly hard to choose!
Luckily, all the restaurants I diligently researched and booked exceeded expectations. Grano Trattoria felt the most like a 'fine dining' experience among the places I visited in Rome, but don't let that intimidate you. It's not overly expensive, and there's no strict dress code. As you can see from the photos, guests are dressed comfortably and casually.
2. Unique Italian Flavors to Savor

The restaurant itself is quite brightly lit. I visited in the evening, and was surprised by how well-illuminated it was, especially compared to many European restaurants that tend to have lower lighting.

Wine is an essential part of any Western European trip. While I enjoy wine, I'm no expert, so I usually ask for recommendations. I requested a dry white wine, and they suggested a lovely Frascati wine from a vineyard near Rome.
It's great that they don't always push the most expensive options; they recommended a reasonably priced bottle. Unlike in some other countries where ordering a bottle can be a splurge, in Italy or Spain, it's often quite affordable, so I highly recommend pairing your meal with a bottle.
Appetizer bread is also served, which incurs a small per-person charge. While you could technically decline it, it's nice to have before the main dishes arrive, and the cost is minimal—just 4 Euros for two. So, go ahead and enjoy it!

We ordered Parmigiana di melanzane and Spahettoni Aglio Olio E Calamari. The dish on the left, Parmigiana di melanzane, looks like lasagna but is actually an eggplant dish. It's made with layers of eggplant, tomato sauce, and cheese, baked to perfection—essentially an eggplant lasagna. A combination that simply can't go wrong!
The dish on the right is an Aglio Olio pasta with calamari. As expected, it was absolutely delicious and a flavor profile that almost anyone would enjoy.

Then came the Tagliolini Pistacchio E Gamberi—the pistachio pasta I was most curious about. It even had shrimp! Can you imagine that combination? Hmm. The taste was, of course, distinctly pistachio, but to be honest, it wasn't overwhelmingly delicious for my palate. It wasn't bad, and I finished it all, but perhaps because the combination was so unfamiliar, I found myself thinking, 'Maybe I should have ordered something else!'
I heard their pizza is fantastic, so perhaps go for the pizza instead!
3. A Quality Meal in a Pleasant Setting
Grano Trattoria offers a lovely atmosphere, friendly servers, and a reasonable price point.

We ordered three main dishes, a bottle of water, and a bottle of wine, and the total bill came out to around ~$81. That's pretty good, right? With the wine costing 23 Euros, the food alone would be approximately 50 Euros.
Booking a table is simple and can be done easily through Google Maps.
