Florence, Italy

Florence feels like an open-air museum.
Wandering its cobblestone streets is pure magic.
Because it's such a walkable city,
your hotel's location is absolutely everything.

I recently stayed at the Grand Hotel Adriatico,
and all of Florence's top attractions were within a 15-minute walk.
With easy access to the Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo,
plus a quick 5-minute stroll to Santa Maria Novella (SMN) Station,
it's an ideal pick for couples or honeymooners.

Having visited Florence three times, I've experimented with
staying right in the city center versus venturing into local neighborhoods.
If your itinerary is tight, staying central saves so much time.
Here is my honest, firsthand review of the room conditions and breakfast!

Location & Accessibility

The iconic Florence Cathedral (Duomo) is just an
11-minute walk from the Grand Hotel Adriatico.
It was incredibly convenient to stroll past this magnificent landmark
multiple times a day, capturing beautiful photos from morning to night. :)
⭐ Distances to Major Attractions ⭐
Duomo: ~0.5 miles ➡️ 11-min walk
Via de' Tornabuoni (Luxury Shopping): ~0.3 miles ➡️ 7-min walk
Ponte Vecchio: ~0.6 miles ➡️ 12-min walk
San Lorenzo Leather Market: ~0.4 miles ➡️ 9-min walk

You don't just visit the Leather Market for shopping—
it's also right by the Mercato Centrale, a must-visit for foodies!
The route from the hotel is effortless,
making it easy to stop by local cafes along the way.

During this trip, I picked up some local wine,
a leather wallet, and some KIKO cosmetics.
The best part about the hotel's central location?
It was so easy to drop off my shopping bags before heading back out!
If you're visiting on your honeymoon,
you'll likely be doing some shopping, and this is the perfect base.
I remember my first trip to Florence—I bought leather gloves,
designer bags, souvenirs... let's just say I shopped a lot!
Grand Hotel Adriatico Room Condition

As expected from a 4-star hotel in Florence,
the Grand Hotel Adriatico exudes classic elegance.

The moment I stepped into the lobby, the staff greeted me warmly,
and there was even a dedicated attendant near the elevators.
Getting a polite greeting and helpful guidance every time
I came and went made the stay feel truly premium.

The classic ambiance of the hallways leading to the rooms
perfectly captures that timeless European aesthetic.
The Bedroom

What impressed me just as much as the location
was the room condition—it far exceeded my expectations.
Often, historic European buildings prioritize preservation,
which can result in cramped, stuffy rooms. Not here!

The bedroom and bathroom felt subtly separated,
and there was plenty of floor space to fully open my large suitcase.
The generous wardrobe storage was another huge plus!

You walk a lot when exploring Florence,
so a comfortable mattress is crucial for a good night's rest.
My room featured warm teak wood floors
and classic mahogany furniture.
It had that quintessential, romantic Italian mood I absolutely love!

Italians take fashion seriously,
which might explain the sturdy ironing board fixed to the wall!
Inside the cabinet, you'll find a safety deposit box and a mini-fridge.

Like most hotels,
the minibar items inside the fridge are available for an extra charge.

Across from the bed, the desk holds an electric kettle,
and tea bags and two bottles of water are provided for free.
Keep in mind, even if you stay multiple nights, the free bottled water
is only provided on your first day. After that, you'll need to buy your own.
Since Europe has hard tap water, complimentary bottled water
isn't restocked daily like it often is in other parts of the world! :)

The hotel also runs an on-site aesthetic spa.
If I had more time, I would have loved to book a treatment.
I attached a photo of the price list for reference! :)
The Bathroom

The bathroom shared the room's calm aesthetic
and was spotlessly clean.
It featured a toilet, a classic European bidet, a spacious sink,
and a comfortable bathtub.

They provide rinsing cups and basic amenities.
Note that in Europe, many hotels use an all-in-one shampoo and body wash dispenser.
I personally brought my own preferred toiletries from home.

There's a hairdryer, plenty of fresh towels,
and a convenient hook on the door for hanging your clothes.
Breakfast Review

True to its 4-star rating, the breakfast dining room was elegant.
Starting my mornings here for two days was an absolute delight.

The dining area is quite large, with plenty of seating available.

The buffet spread was very impressive.
Beyond the standard smoked salmon and cold cuts, they even had rice!
If you crave a hearty, savory breakfast, this is a huge plus.

A hearty breakfast really sets the tone for the day,
and I loved being able to pick and choose based on my cravings.
The Grand Hotel Adriatico actually boasts high ratings
on Google specifically for its breakfast quality.

Eating a big breakfast and enjoying unlimited morning coffee
at the hotel saved me from needing an expensive mid-morning cafe run!
Hotel prices fluctuate based on real-time promotions
and credit card offers across different platforms.
Here is a comparison of my top 3 booking sites (based on August 2026 rates):
▼▼
Agoda | Booking.com | Trip.com |
From ~$166 | From ~$180 | From ~$175 |
Breakfast Included | Breakfast Included | Breakfast Included |
The most affordable rooms always sell out first,
so if you have a trip to Florence coming up, book your stay well in advance.

I prioritize safety wherever I travel,
so I don't usually stay out too late.
However, the neighborhood felt very safe. I even comfortably walked
to a nearby pizzeria after 9:00 PM to grab takeout!
✔️ Highly Recommended For: ✔️
