6-minute walk to the MRT station (Havelock MRT Station),
27 minutes from Changi Airport
Right next to the Singapore River
Near Marina Bay, Clarke Quay, Chinatown, and the National Gallery Singapore (10-minute drive)
The Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore
is just a 20-30 minute drive from Singapore Changi Airport.
And honestly, I chose it because it was so close to the Singapore clubs in Marina Bay for my first night out!
A truly perfect choice!
You literally zoom there in just 10 minutes by car!
Plus, it's really close to all of Singapore's major tourist attractions (like Marina Bay, Clarke Quay, and more),
making its location truly fantastic.
And it's not called the 'Waterfront' for nothing!
Wake up, and *poof* –
you're greeted by panoramic views of the Singapore River through full-length windows.
It boasts an amazing location, offers great value for a 5-star hotel,
and the facilities are all new, so everything feels fresh and clean. They even have excellent parking.
2. Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore Room Condition
(Highly Recommended!)
The Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore
was renovated in 2025, so everything is brand new!
The rooms are incredibly neat and tidy.
At the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore,
the bathrooms are clean and spacious.
Just a heads-up: the shower booths are transparent, so you might want to use the bathroom one person at a time!
I'm not sure if it's a Singapore hotel thing, but there's no body lotion.
A 5-star hotel without body lotion?!
Maybe because it's so hot in Singapore, people don't use body lotion, 'eh?
My room at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore was originally the most basic category,
but Trip.com was running a special deal for a room upgrade + late check-out,
so I switched to that option, and
I ended up with a waterfront-view room!
(Just remember to mention this at check-in to get it!)
The room is actually quite a bit more spacious than it looks in the photos!!!
I'd heard that hotel rooms in Singapore tend to be small,
but for this location and at around ~$138, this size is incredibly satisfying.
The room window is large,
and having a sofa is truly the best part.
What's unique about the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel is that
the water…!
isn't provided as bottled water,
but rather, each hotel room has a water dispenser installed.
It's a bit surprising, but being able to drink unlimited water is quite nice, wouldn't you say?
The downside is that the water isn't cold, so you have to pour it and then put it back in the fridge
to get cold, delicious water.
And yes, I'm the Korean who was surprised to find an empty fridge…
But it still feels somewhat like home? And seems pretty good.
Anyway, it seems to be part of Singaporean hotels' environmental protection policies.
Outside the window, you get a great view of the Singapore River and a tennis court.
Singapore Hotel's Environmental Protection Part 2…
Perhaps because the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Singapore is a newly renovated hotel,
every outlet has a power button like this,
so you absolutely have to turn the power button ON for electricity to flow.
(This was also a bit surprising, but I adapted.)
I wondered what to do since Korea uses 220V and Singapore uses 230V,
but 5-star hotels
have the same outlets as China,
so you can just plug in Korean electrical cords.
And there are also plenty of USB charging ports
throughout the room, so no need to worry.
Singapore Waterfront Hotel…
Even though the fridge is completely empty,
since it's a 5-star hotel, it still provides
a kettle and various teas.
There aren't even any snacks available for purchase,
but there's a convenience store on the first floor of the hotel.
There's an electrical outlet next to the bed in the hotel room (you have to turn this ON too),
and the hotel's interior decor and paintings are just beautiful….
The Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore also has
a bedside lamp like this.
And they also gave a S$30 coupon that can be used at the lounge or cafe downstairs
when booking through Trip.com.
3. Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore
Pool and Facilities
I was too busy during check-in at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore, so I didn't notice it then, but
the 1st-floor front desk is quite large, and
that cloud-like decoration, unique to Singapore, was really stylish.
If you go up to the 2nd floor, there's also a space like this.
Since it's in downtown Singapore, the outdoor pool is also really important!
The outdoor pool at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore had plenty of sunshine, a good size, and was beautiful.
The hotel pool is available at these times daily.
There are plenty of beach chairs, and towels are available.
Unlike in Korea, staff don't collect card keys and verify them at the pool entrance.
It seemed like all guests could just use it freely.
There isn't a view, but the palm trees give it a nice vibe.
The hotel lobby on the 1st floor looks like this, and when you see it from below,
that cloud-like decoration looks even prettier.
There were many foreigners, and
while I was waiting for a taxi,
a couple, who said they were newlyweds, asked me to take their picture, so
I happily took many photos for them.
In the 1st-floor lobby of the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore, there are sofas where you can sit,
a bakery, and the lobby lounge, which is also where breakfast is served.
And near a smaller entrance to the hotel, there's also a convenience store.
If you go too late to the lobby lounge/breakfast (around 11 AM.. T_T), it's reorganization time, so
I recommend going a bit earlier..
So, they said the 30 SGD coupon could be used again from 12 PM.
(I received a late check-out until 3 PM)

A standard room was around ~$173 (as of early March), and
I had originally booked elsewhere,
but booking through this Trip.com link was ~$7 cheaper (if I recall correctly?!) so I rebooked there.
If there's an option that includes a room upgrade, late check-out, and a 30 SGD voucher, definitely pick it! It's a super sweet deal!
5. Other Nearby Singapore Hotels I Considered
For my first night in Singapore,
besides the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Singapore, I also
considered other hotels in the city center.
I considered factors like Location (especially proximity to Marina Bay, since I was planning to go to a club there!!!)
Room condition
Price, and so on.
Ultimately,
I ended up staying at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel.
However, the hotels below were also strong contenders, so I'm sharing them here!

The Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore is located approximately a 20-30 minute drive from Changi Airport. Marina Bay Sands is a 10-minute drive, Clarke Quay and Orchard Road MRT Station (Havelock Station) are a 6-minute walk, and Chinatown and the National Gallery Singapore can be reached within a 10-minute drive.
Rooms are equipped with water purifiers instead of bottled water, allowing for unlimited water access. All power outlets have a power button that must be pressed to supply electricity. Additionally, there are plenty of 230V outlets compatible with Korean 220V plugs, as well as USB ports.
The Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel was remodeled in 2025, boasting very clean and new-like room conditions. Even the most basic rooms are quite spacious, and you can enjoy Singapore River views through floor-to-ceiling windows.
When booking through Trip.com, you can receive benefits such as a room upgrade and late check-out. Additionally, a 30 SGD voucher that can be used at the lounge or cafe is also provided.
As of early March, a standard room could be booked for approximately ~$173. The hotel features a moderately sized outdoor swimming pool with plenty of sunlight, a bakery, a lobby lounge, and a convenience store on the first floor.
