Even though Ipchu (the start of autumn) has passed, it's still August, which means it's still summer, right ~ ? !
As summer draws to a close, for those of you heading to Goseong, Gangwon-do for a drive or a trip,
I'd love to introduce you to some must-visit spots!
It's also close to Sokcho, so if you're ever in Sokcho and looking for somewhere new to explore,
definitely check it out!
This is Neungpado, located in Munim 2-ri,
and it's famous as a snorkeling spot in Goseong.
It's said to have become even more renowned after being featured as a filming location for BTS's music videos.
And let me tell you, it offers a distinct, mysterious charm of uniquely shaped rock formations,
completely different from the Chotdaebawi (Candlestick Rock) Neungpado in Donghae City.
I'll start my review of Neungpado and how to access the snorkeling spot now!
1. Parking & Admission Info Summary

Just looking around & taking photos: approx. 20 min
Walking all the way to the end of the trail: approx. 3~5 min
The moment I parked, the majestic sight of Neungpado unfolded before my eyes, and I instantly thought, 'Wow, this place looks worth seeing!' haha
The stepped deck path is really well-maintained,
making it an easy and pleasant course to visit with young children or parents,
perfect for a bit of exercise.
The stairs are pretty short, only about 30 seconds long, maybe?
2. Unique Tafone Geology
Neungpado in Goseong is known for its tafone geology,
a landscape where countless holes have been carved into the rocks by the weathering action of seawater.
As soon as I entered, massive rocks rose irregularly,
almost like mountains, and it was truly incredible! haha

Along the way, I even captured some photos in the big rock crevices~
As you walk to the innermost viewpoint,
behind Neungpadae, you'll be greeted by the expansive, refreshing Goseong sea,
a fantastic snorkeling spot, and Munam Beach.
Normally, it's just a 3 to 5-minute stroll,
but between snapping photos and soaking in the views, we easily spent about 20 minutes!
3. How to Reach Neungpadae Snorkeling Spot at Munam Beach, Goseong
Neungpadae has become quite the buzz among travelers recently,
known as a super hot snorkeling destination in Goseong, Gangwon Province! 🤿
On the day we visited, the waves were generally quite strong,
but surprisingly, the rocky area within the Neungpadae snorkeling spot itself
was incredibly calm, making it perfect for a splash!
Of course, this isn't a typical swimming beach,
and the water gets very deep almost immediately,
so if freediving isn't your forte, we don't recommend venturing too far.
We saw so many people enjoying themselves until late evening,
snorkeling here, and honestly, we were so envious! ㅠㅠ
📌 How to Access the Neungpadae Snorkeling Spot:
1. Park at the Neungpadae parking lot, then head towards the restroom building.
2. Follow the path marked with the 'Scuba Resort' sign.
3. You'll soon see a path with a steel floor, leading down to the sea,
where stairs will magically appear! ✨
If you prefer to avoid the hustle and bustle of official beaches,
or if you're dreaming of freediving in deep, pristine waters,
this is absolutely the spot for you!

Neungpadae offers free parking and no entrance fees. The parking area operates as an open lot, and there are no time restrictions for entry.
