Our cozy home base last weekend for a quick one-night getaway:

Even though it's a stunning oceanfront stay right by the beach with sweeping ocean views,

the value for money was unbeatable compared to other spots nearby, so I just had to book it.

is located right in the middle of Cheonjin Beach and Bongpo Beach,

giving you the best of both worlds with super easy access to both.

It's just a 6-minute walk to either beach!

As you can see on the map, it's literally right by the ocean,

so you can feel the sand beneath your feet in just a 3-minute walk,

and the beautiful East Sea is on full display right from your room. : )

The price fluctuates quite a bit between peak and off-peak seasons,

but compared to other nearby stays that easily run

over ~$192 on August weekends, this place is incredibly reasonable.

Stunning ocean view with clear sightlines

To be honest, "ocean view" can sometimes be a hit or miss,

but at Chueok Mandeulgi Pension, the sea was visible right from the bed.

It was close enough that you could easily watch the sunrise without even rolling out of bed.

Since the balcony railing is made of clear glass,

you get an unobstructed view of the deep blue East Sea, making it incredibly romantic.

This is exactly why I highly recommend it for a couple's getaway!

The terrace features a cute little table and chairs

where you can enjoy a morning cup of coffee while gazing at the waves.

The view of the coastline from the balcony is absolutely breathtaking : )

If you head just behind the building, the beach is right there, making it perfect for swimming.

There's even an outdoor shower head behind the pension's parking lot,

making it super convenient to wash off the sand after a fun session in the water.

The room has a cozy studio-apartment vibe, but it has everything you need and is super clean.

I chose this place partly because so many reviews praised its cleanliness,

and it really was spotless.

Plus, even though it's right by the sea, once you close the door,

the sound of the waves is completely blocked out, so I slept like a baby :)

The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, electric kettle, fridge, and more,

along with utensils, knives, a cutting board, and pots.

It's perfect for cooking up some instant ramen or prepping some fresh fruit.

The bathroom was sparkling clean too!

They provide 4 towels, but if you plan on swimming in the sea, it's a good idea to bring extra.

Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and toothpaste are all standard amenities.

We didn't do it, but outdoor BBQing is also available.

They say there aren't many pensions in Goseong that offer BBQ,

and grilling meat while gazing at the ocean sounds absolutely amazing...

There's a Hanaro Mart and a convenience store just a 5-minute walk away,

making it super convenient to stock up on BBQ ingredients

or grab some late-night snacks.

To be honest, the building itself looks a bit dated,

and the parking space is on the tighter side compared to the number of rooms.

But for a night or two of enjoying the ocean, I think it's absolutely perfect.

To sum it up:

If you're looking for a budget-friendly beachfront pension in Goseong, Gangwon-do,

I highly recommend the "Chueok Mandeulgi" (Making Memories) Pension!

Since it's peak summer vacation season,

the weekends in late August can get fully booked,

so be sure to check room availability for your travel dates first!
