Cafe Mab Gongju: A Chestnut-Themed Delight in 2026

While I had some time to spare before catching my bus at the Gongju Intercity Bus Terminal, I decided to take a stroll. That's when I serendipitously discovered this charming cafe in Gongju!

It's a fantastic spot to visit if you're exploring Gongju, especially since it features the city's specialty — chestnuts — transformed into adorable characters, desserts, and drinks.

Who would have thought I'd stumble upon such a cute cafe during my solo day trip to Gongju and Buyeo by bus? The joy of unplanned travel truly is immense!

Just from the entrance, you get the distinct feeling that this place is all about Gongju's specialty chestnuts, offering unique merchandise and beverages.

As expected, the menu is absolutely brimming with chestnut delights!🌰 I debated whether to get an Americano with a Mab Sand cookie, but ultimately decided on the Chestnut Spanner.

The Chestnut Patbingsu that someone else ordered looked incredibly delicious too; I would definitely get it if I were here with family. The Mab Sands also come in beautiful box packaging for 6 or 12 pieces, making them perfect souvenirs or gifts.

While the interior isn't overly spacious, it offers a variety of seating arrangements, including larger tables perfect for groups of 6 or more. I loved how the furniture's chestnut-brown hues subtly echo the cafe's theme!

Checking out their Instagram, I learned that this adorable little guy is their chestnut mascot, "Bami"! Interestingly, the cafe's name, "Cafe Mab," is actually "Bam" (chestnut) spelled backward. My order: Cafe Mab's signature Chestnut Spanner🌰! They even served it with one of those adorable Bami coasters they sell – now I wish I'd bought one, I really need a coaster! This delightful drink features milk infused with their homemade chestnut syrup, topped with a rich, handcrafted chestnut cream. Spooning up the cream first, you get a burst of sweet, nutty chestnut flavor. It was the perfect sugar rush before heading back to Seoul!
