For travelers making domestic connections, Gimhae International Airport's (김해공항) Domestic Terminal is a bustling hub.

If you're flying to destinations like Jeju (제주) or Seoul Gimpo (김포) and have cleared security, you'll find yourself in the waiting area before your flight.

While international terminals have departure halls, in domestic terminals, this space is commonly referred to as the boarding area or lounge.

To help you make the most of your time before boarding, here's a guide to the essential facilities available in the domestic terminal.

1. Gimhae Domestic Terminal: Boarding Area & Facilities Location

After your ID and boarding pass are checked and you clear the security scanners, you'll enter this area. It's a remarkably compact airport, where all the gates and amenities are visible at a glance.

Right after you pass security, you'll spot a clear sign detailing the carry-on regulations for portable power banks.

With this sign as your central point, gates are located to both the left and right. The terminal is so small that you can walk from one end to the other in just about 3 minutes.

2. Key Facilities After Security at Gimhae Domestic Terminal

What kind of convenient facilities and dining options await to make your pre-flight wait comfortable at Gimhae Domestic Terminal?

Immediately after exiting the security checkpoint, you'll find Gongcha (공차) and Mido Eomuk (미도 어묵) to your right.

Even early in the morning, Gimhae Airport is often bustling with groups of young travelers heading off on trips.

Many visitors finishing their trip to Busan (부산) often grab gift sets from Mido Eomuk as a last-minute souvenir.

If you head back to the center and turn left, you'll immediately see Angel-in-us Coffee (엔제리너스 카페).

Orders are placed via a kiosk, and you can pick up sandwiches or bottled drinks from the counter. It can get quite busy, so expect a short wait after ordering.

Next door, there's also a spot called Hanspoon (한스푼), which offers simple meals.

They sell items like gimbap (김밥) and udon (우동).

These are perfect options for a light bite if you're feeling peckish before an early morning flight or just before boarding.

The area below is the hallway leading from Gate 36 to Gate 37.

This space is designed as a comfortable rest area for families traveling with children, with the opposite side decorated similarly.

However, during an early morning visit, I did notice some adults using this children's area to lie down, which wasn't quite ideal for its intended purpose.

Nursing Room & Infant Lounge

For families traveling with infants, a clean and well-equipped nursing room and infant lounge are available, complete with diaper changing stations and private feeding areas.

Gate 37 is located past Angel-in-us Coffee and Hanspoon, through the connecting hallway.

Unlike the other gates, it's a bit separated, which means there's often more seating available – a definite plus!

When I flew from Gate 37, there were plenty of charging cables available. I had no trouble powering up my devices before boarding.

Plus, with free Wi-Fi supported throughout the airport, you can easily stream videos or browse the web to pass the time without getting bored.

Wheelchair & Assisted Passenger Friendly Zone

The airport provides convenient services and priority seating for those with mobility challenges, ensuring everyone can wait comfortably.

However, one minor drawback is that this dedicated space is located near Gate 37.

Essentially, Gate 37 is the only gate at Gimhae Domestic Terminal that feels a bit separated from the main concourse.

3. Essential Tips for Using Gimhae Domestic Terminal

First things first: always confirm your boarding gate.

For Gate 37, head straight left after passing security. For Gate 31, it's on the opposite side. While the terminal isn't large, making navigation quick, gates often open just minutes apart. Even for the same destination, flight numbers can differ by just 5 or 10 minutes, so it's crucial to know your exact flight number.

When I traveled through Gimhae Domestic Terminal recently, there were quite a few flight cancellations and delays. It's always a good idea to be prepared in advance.

Also, make sure to have your mobile boarding pass ready before you arrive.
