Our family's original travel plan for this trip was
a 2-day, 1-night stay in Andong (안동).
But when we actually tried to book, all the good accommodations
were already fully booked, making it incredibly hard to find a room.
So, we quickly changed our destination to
Gimcheon (김천), a place I'd always had in mind.
After changing our destination,
the immediate concern of where to stay began.
Our family had two simple criteria for choosing accommodation:
1. For the next day's itinerary, it had to be close to Jikjisa Temple (직지사)
2. A comfortable stay for our family of three: our 9-year-old daughter and us.
Meaning, it had to be either an ondol room (traditional Korean floor heating) or
have two beds....
After a frantic search, the place we found was
'Gimcheon Honey Stay (김천 꿀스테이),' located not far from Jikjisa Temple.

Accommodation Booking Tips
If you're embarking on a spontaneous trip like us,
or planning a weekend visit,
rooms can get snatched up quickly.
Especially if it's a long holiday, like when we visited,
it was even harder to find a room.
When I visited Gimcheon,
there were two places I really wanted to go:
Jikjisa Temple and Yeonhwaji Pond (연화지).
When accommodation and tourist spots are far apart in an unfamiliar area,
it can feel quite burdensome.
That's why our ideal was for tourist attractions to be located near the accommodation.
Looking at the map,
Jikjisa Temple was within 5km, so we could visit
without any hassle.

A room with two beds, perfect for families!
When my daughter was younger, we could manage with just one bed, but
now that she's a bit older, traveling with only one bed means I end up with body aches the next day,
so two beds are an absolute must!
This definitely narrows down the choices for accommodation.
But Honey Stay was perfect as a family accommodation;
this aspect was truly fantastic.

Delivery Available
With many apartments nearby, it was convenient
for feeding our child.
Delivery was also easy...
Of course, we ordered dinner for delivery too.
Since our child had many options, we could eat comfortably
without any fuss.

Breakfast! ₩5,000 (~$4)
Traveling with a child, breakfast is truly essential.
I used to be someone who only ate two meals a day, but
a child needs three meals, right?
While breakfast is separate,
for an affordable price of ₩5,000 (~$4),
it included simple toast, ramen, cereal, and more,
which meant our daughter could truly enjoy her meal.
We didn't have much time to encounter other guests, but
observing the atmosphere during breakfast,
it was clear that Hotel Honey Stay Gimcheon branch
had many family guests.

And even though the parking lot looked spacious,
when we left in the morning, it was full...
It was a truly popular accommodation.
Its location near Jikjisa Temple is great, so
It's really popular with family travelers.

My Honest Review After Staying Here
It was clean and quiet, which I loved.
The parking lot was well-maintained,
and they kindly answered all my questions.
When visiting with a child,
cleanliness is naturally the top priority,
followed by finding convenient options for delivery or meals.
Considering these things,
it was impeccable enough that
I slept well and used the facilities comfortably because it was so clean.

Was the size adequate for a family of three?
Yes.
Just as advertised, the room had two beds,
and it even came with a styler (garment refresher),
which was great for storing outer garments.
Inside the room, besides the beds, there was a large dining table,
which was perfect for comfortably enjoying delivery food.

The bedding was crisp, white, and felt like luxurious hotel linens.
The bathroom was also spacious and spotless.
I couldn't find a single noticeable flaw.
It seemed like they paid great attention to maintenance.
If you forget to bring something,
there's a selection of disposable items located in a corner of the counter,
and it was convenient to just pick up what you needed.

The next day, starting with Yeonhwaji Pond (연화지),
we moved on to Jikjisa Temple (직지사) and the area of Sayeongdaesa Park (사명대사공원).
It didn't take long to get around,
making our travels very comfortable.
Perhaps because it wasn't cherry blossom season,
there weren't many people at Yeonhwaji Pond either,
allowing for a peaceful viewing experience.
Not spending a lot of time on travel
was truly wonderful.

When traveling with family,
the most convenient mode of transportation is probably
your own car, right?
That's why parking is a big concern,
but Honey Stay has parking available across from the building,
and in front of the building itself.
While double parking might occur if the lot is full,
it seemed manageable within the parking area itself.
Even checking out before 9 AM, I had no trouble leaving.

I couldn't find accommodation in Andong (안동),
but Honey Stay helped me completely forget that disappointment
by providing a night of truly restful comfort.
If you're planning a family trip to the Jikjisa Temple or Sayeongdaesa Park area in Gimcheon,
I highly recommend a comfortable overnight stay at Honey Stay,
which boasts a great location.
