📞 For reservations, you will need to call the individual food stalls directly!
Gijang Haenyeo Chon is famous for its long row of traditional orange street food tents (pojangmacha) lining the beautiful coastline.

Honestly, the menus, pricing, and quality are almost identical across all the stalls. Just wander down the line and pick a tent that has a free table right by the water!
I arrived on a Friday at 1:30 PM, and only one or two tents had open ocean-front seating left. The spot I chose this time was run by a friendly collective called "Woongi's Mom / Woobong Ajimae / Siyoon's Grandma"!

Checking out the super fresh live seafood on display! 👀
The tent has about 6 tables inside, with 2 highly coveted seats right by the window facing the ocean.

Here is the menu for our chosen tent (Woongi's Mom / Woobong Ajimae / Siyoon's Grandma).

They offer Abalone Porridge and Nutritious Abalone Porridge (minimum 2-person order). You can also get Assorted Seafood Platters in Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large, alongside individual dishes like grilled abalone, raw abalone, sea cucumber, octopus, turban shells, sea squirt, and scallops.
Abalone Porridge: ~$8 * 2 (ordered for two)
Assorted Seafood Platter (Medium): ~$26
Soju: ~$3 * 2
Beer: ~$3 * 2
Once you order, they bring out water, cups, wet wipes, chopsticks, and sweet chili dipping sauce (chogochujang). (I love that they give you fresh 500ml bottled water! 🤍)

The basic sides include lettuce wraps, raw onions, green chilies, seaweed, sesame oil with salt, chili paste, and a piping hot bowl of mussel soup (honghap-tang)! The mussel soup alone is enough to start sipping on your drinks! 🍻

Daesun (the local Busan soju brand) was sold out on this day, so we went with another local favorite. Drinking with a direct view of the ocean is sheer bliss! 🤭

While enjoying the hot mussel soup, our Assorted Seafood Platter arrived! Look at this incredible spread! Sea cucumber, scallops, cockles, abalone, turban shells, sea squirt, and live octopus—all of this incredibly fresh variety for just ~$26! 🩵

You have to experience the freshness to believe it! 👀
The authentic "pojangmacha" street-tent vibe here is absolutely unbeatable.

As you dive into the raw seafood, the freshly made Abalone Porridge (Jeonbokjuk) makes its grand entrance! 💚 The rich aroma of toasted sesame oil wafting from the hot pot is absolutely mouthwatering.

They definitely do not skimp on the abalone—there are generous, chunky pieces mixed throughout the porridge!

Dip the fresh, crunchy sea snail into the sweet-spicy chili sauce and take a bite! I only managed to capture a photo of the turban shell because I was too busy eating! generic_emoji_here 🥹

We alternated between raw abalone slices, hot abalone porridge, and combining them together for the ultimate texture contrast! 😋

Since I am not a big fan of sea squirt, my friend and I did a "turban shell toast" instead! Cheers! 🍻

Amazing seafood, local drinks, and a breezy ocean view in the middle of the afternoon... This is what pure travel happiness feels like! 🤍

For restrooms, you will need to head outside to the public restroom building. It is actually very clean and well-maintained, so no worries there!

While the cash-only policy can be a bit inconvenient for international travelers, the experience of eating freshly harvested seafood and hot, savory abalone porridge right on the water makes it 100% worth it. If you want a truly authentic, local seaside vibe in Busan, I highly recommend Gijang Yeonhwari Haenyeo Chon!

The medium-sized assorted seafood platter is ~$26, and the abalone porridge is ~$8 per serving. Please note that abalone porridge requires a minimum order of two servings.
You can take Bus No. 181 from Haeundae, get off at the Sinam bus stop, and walk from there. Since the public parking lot at Gijang Haenyeo Village is quite small, we highly recommend using public transportation or taking a taxi.
