Ghibli Park Japanese Garden Guide: Nagoya Hidden Gem
Planning a trip to Ghibli Park in Nagoya? Don't miss this hidden Japanese Garden just steps from Ghibli's Grand Warehouse. Here is how to visit!

Hey there, fellow travelers! During my recent trip to Ghibli Park in Nagoya, I found myself with some extra time before my scheduled entry to Ghibli's Grand Warehouse. Instead of just waiting around, I decided to go for a stroll and stumbled upon an absolute hidden gem. It was such a peaceful, beautiful experience that I just had to share it with you. If you are heading to Ghibli Park and have some time to spare, this is a must-visit spot!
The spot I am talking about is the gorgeous Japanese Garden located within the Aichi Earth Expo Memorial Park (Moricoro Park), just a short walk from Ghibli's Grand Warehouse.

Getting here is incredibly easy. It is only about a 16-minute walk (roughly 0.7 miles) from Ghibli's Grand Warehouse.

Once you pass Ghibli's Grand Warehouse and keep walking up the hill, you will spot this entrance. Head through here to access the beautiful walking trails!

The paths are very gentle and easy to navigate, making it a perfect walk on a sunny day. There are clear English signposts at every fork in the road, so you won't have to worry about getting lost.

As you head down, the Japanese Garden opens up before you—and let me tell you, it is absolutely stunning. It is the perfect place to clear your mind and just soak in the peaceful atmosphere.

The weather was absolutely perfect during my visit, which made for some incredible photos. There is a traditional building that you can actually enter, though we were a bit short on time so we only admired it from the outside.
Inside the building, there is a traditional tea room. Please note that booking the main tea room requires an advance reservation. However, you can still enjoy a delicious matcha green tea and sweet set at the Ryurei-seki (table-style seating area) for just ~$5, and no reservation is needed! The tea room is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, while the Ryurei-seki seating is open from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM on weekdays and 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekends and holidays.

As you exit the main garden area, you will find yourself on another gorgeous, tree-lined walking path.

There is also a beautiful lake right in front, making it an incredible spot to sit back and relax. I originally came just for Ghibli Park, but finding this serene spot was an unexpected highlight of my day. I highly recommend taking a little detour here during your trip!
