When you think of a Geoje travel itinerary, "authentic local eats" are an absolute must.
This was actually my second visit!! Kohyeon Market is famous as Geoje's ultimate foodie hub,
packed with endless delicious spots.
On top of the lively morning market vibes,
I also visited the legendary snack shop that you'd totally regret missing:
"Sundaeria" in Geoje Kohyeon Market.
Geoje Kohyeon Market is the representative traditional market of Geoje, located right in the heart of the city's commercial district. This permanent market consists of over 300 shops where you can purchase a wide variety of goods, including fresh seafood, local specialties, and agricultural products.
This is the closest
tower-style multi-level public parking lot,
which is open 24 hours a day.

According to Geoje city ordinances, this multi-level public parking garage
offers free parking for up to 2 hours (once a day),
with additional fees payable via the automated payment kiosks on the 1st floor
(you must exit within 20 minutes after payment).
* Since it's a tower-style garage, there are plenty of spaces,
including designated spots for disabled drivers, compact cars, and electric vehicles.
(Unless it's peak holiday season, finding a spot is usually a breeze!)

Is it crowded?
Yes! It gets pretty lively.
As it's a bustling local market, both Geoje locals doing their daily shopping
and plenty of travelers visit regularly.
Honestly, as long as it's not closing time,
any time is a great time to visit.
Lately, the busiest time tends to be around 14:00,
so we recommend visiting when it's slightly less crowded.
*Aside from the main alley, some side walkways are narrow, making it a bit tricky to navigate.

Filled with mouthwatering aromas, you'll find everything from sweet rice cake shops to savory bossam (boiled pork), jokbal (pig's trotters), and classic street food.
It's packed with an endless array of delicious snacks to keep you going.

According to Geoje City ordinances, free parking is provided at the public parking lot for up to 2 hours, once a day. Any additional fees incurred after the free time can be paid through the unmanned payment system on the 1st floor, and you must exit within 20 minutes after payment.
The official operating hours of the market are from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, but since it may vary by store, it is recommended to visit before 7:00 PM at the latest. If you want to browse leisurely when there are relatively few visitors, it is best to visit around 2:00 PM.
The food alley is located in Area 3 of the market's East Gate. Representative restaurants include Chungnam Sikdang, which sells Gukbap (soup with rice) topped with perilla leaves, and Sundaeria, which sells stir-fried Sundae (Korean blood sausage) and Udon.
It takes about 28 minutes by car from Geoje Gohyeon Market to the Geoje Panorama Cable Car. Since tourist attractions in Geoje Island are quite far apart, it is highly recommended to consider these travel times in advance when planning your itinerary.
