Considering hotels for your Sydney adventure? Our honest review of The Fullerton Hotel Sydney's Tower Superior Twin Room highlights its unbeatable CBD location, amazing views, and value.
Planning a trip to Sydney often comes with one major head-scratcher: choosing the perfect accommodation. For my 4-night stay, I wrestled with whether to stick to one spot or split my nights between different vibes. Should I go for a budget-friendly Airbnb, or chase that iconic Sydney ocean view further out? Downtown hotels in Sydney can be pricey, making the decision truly tough.
Ultimately, I prioritized travel efficiency. With a limited itinerary, minimizing travel time and staying in the heart of Sydney's CBD (Central Business District) was key. So, I decided on a full 4-night stay at The Fullerton Hotel Sydney. Looking back, it was hands down the best decision of the entire trip.
From Airport to Hotel: Prioritizing Comfort and Convenience
Upon landing at Sydney Airport, we didn't hesitate to call an Uber. While public transport like buses or trains is an option, my top priority throughout the trip was short travel times and maintaining my energy. I wanted to save that precious sightseeing energy instead of spending it dragging luggage and navigating unfamiliar streets.
We arrived at the hotel quite early in the morning. Since it was before check-in, we simply dropped our bags at the front desk and headed out to explore the city with light hearts. After an overnight flight, I might have looked a bit rumpled, but the sheer joy of breathing in Sydney's air and starting our adventure was incredible!

The Fullerton's Alluring History
What makes this hotel truly special is its location within Sydney's historic landmark: the former General Post Office (GPO) building. Preserving its magnificent 19th-century Italian Renaissance architectural style, the hotel itself feels like a grand cultural heritage site.
The hotel offers two distinct styles of rooms.
A Breathtaking Clock Tower View from the 21st Floor
After a quick city reconnaissance, check-in time finally arrived, and we made our way to the room. We were assigned the 21st floor! As I opened the door, I was first struck by the bright sunshine streaming through the large window, and then, by the sheer, imposing presence of the clock tower right before our eyes.
I'd seen photos of this famous clock tower in countless blogs, but seeing it in person was far more majestic and beautiful. The clock chimes every hour, a gentle sound that isn't intrusive at all; instead, it adds a romantic ambiance, making you feel as if you've been transported to an ancient European city. Good to know: the bells don't chime in the evening!
At night, the glittering city skyline nestled among the tall buildings is equally stunning. Sydney is an early-rising city, so each morning, I could also spot people already working in the offices across the street. Witnessing that vibrant scene always gave me an extra boost of travel energy.
TIP. From the 21st floor, we looked slightly down at the clock. If you prefer a more direct, eye-level view, the 16th floor is said to be ideal, so you might consider requesting it in advance.
Our room type was the 'Tower Superior Twin Room'. I was a bit worried it might feel cramped for three adults, but the room turned out to be surprisingly spacious! With two large beds, it was perfectly comfortable for three people.
The bedding quality, in particular, was absolutely superb. After a full day of sightseeing, from morning till night, your feet are bound to be tired. But the moment I sank into that bed, all my fatigue seemed to melt away. The bed and duvet cradled me in comfort, ensuring I slept soundly through the night, every single night.
Each evening, lying in that plush bed, sorting through the day's photos, and planning the next day's itinerary before drifting off to sleep, became a small but definite source of healing on this trip.

Unbeatable Location and Flexible Itinerary
The greatest appeal of The Fullerton Hotel is undoubtedly its prime location. Situated right in the heart of the CBD, accessibility to everything is fantastic.
TIP. Sydney's attractions aren't spread out over vast distances, so having your accommodation in the city center truly elevates your travel experience. What I especially loved was the flexibility: if my shopping bags got heavy or I felt a wave of fatigue, I could always pop back to the hotel for a 20-30 minute break and head back out. This flexible approach reduced exhaustion and significantly enhanced our enjoyment of the trip.

Skipping Breakfast: A Smart Move for Foodies
For the record, we did not opt for breakfast at the hotel. The reason was simple: Sydney is bursting with so many charming cafes and restaurants we were eager to try! Rather than filling up on hotel breakfast, we wanted to kickstart our mornings by exploring local eateries.
We even considered having breakfast on our last day, thinking we'd indulge before an early departure, but we ended up skipping it then too. While The Fullerton Hotel's breakfast is renowned, and I felt a tiny pang of regret, the area around the hotel is filled with famous bakeries and high-quality brunch spots that open early, making hotel breakfast completely unnecessary. Discovering a new cafe each morning, guided by the fragrant aroma of Sydney coffee, was a delightful experience and, for our travel style, skipping hotel breakfast was the best choice.
TIP. You can typically add breakfast a day in advance, so you have the flexibility to decide based on your energy levels and itinerary.
Booking Information & Price (Affordable 5-Star Luxury)
Finally, here’s a breakdown of our booking.
I booked through Agoda, paying a total of ~$1,056 for four nights in a Tower Superior Twin Room. This works out to approximately ~$262 per night.
Considering its prime location in central Sydney, its historical significance, a spacious room, and that incredible view, I believe this was a very reasonable price for a 5-star hotel. The blend of the modern Tower Wing's sleekness and the hotel's overall timeless elegance truly elevated our trip.
