Our 6-night, 7-day adventure is already cruising into its latter half.
We always save our shopping spree for the tail end of our adventures,
so today, our final day, we planned a laid-back schedule of leisurely strolling, soaking in the sights,
and, of course, some fantastic shopping.
YouMe Town Hakata

It's just a single bus ride away from Tenjin,
so that's where we set our sights for YouMe Town.
With big names like Kaldi, Uniqlo, GU, ABC Mart, JINS, cpla, Daiso, and more,
you'll find almost every major store conveniently gathered under one roof.
Plus, with hardly any tourists around, YouMe Town offers a much more relaxed shopping experience, which is exactly why it's my top pick.
If you're looking for a stress-free shopping escape in Fukuoka, YouMe Town comes with my highest recommendation!
We got an early start and made our way over, but it turned out we were a bit *too* early – they weren't open yet!
So, to properly wake up and kickstart our day, we settled into Starbucks to wait
Of course, with a refreshing Americano in hand!
Seriously, Japanese coffee always hits different – it wakes me up without fail, every single time!
The moment the clock struck 10 AM, the stores swung open their doors,
and we wasted no time diving into Kaldi, conveniently located right next to Starbucks.
Kaldi is incredibly popular with Korean visitors,
and while other branches are typically bustling with people,
the YouMe Town Kaldi branch was blissfully quiet, making for a wonderfully relaxed shopping spree.
They also tend to have a generous stock of items that might be sold out in Hakata or Tenjin,
which made browsing a pure joy.
At Kaldi, we happily gathered the treasures on our shopping list,
plus a few extra treats that caught our eye.
With fewer crowds, we could take our sweet time exploring and browsing everything,
making the selection process super enjoyable.
Just a heads-up, YouMe Town Kaldi doesn't offer tax-free shopping.
(In fact, you won't find *any* tax-free Kaldi stores in Fukuoka Prefecture, so keep that in mind!)
After our delightful spree at Kaldi,
we spent some time wandering through the various specialty and accessory shops within YouMe Town.
Next thing we knew, it was almost 11 AM,
and our stomachs were rumbling! So, we started scouting for a lunch spot in YouMe Town's lively restaurant zone.
Saizeriya
Our lunch pick for the day? Saizeriya!
I vividly remember those youthful days, saving up every penny for trips to Japan, and places like Saizeriya or Bikkuri Donkey were our go-to spots.
So, it was a nostalgic treat to drop by again after all these years.
The prices here are incredibly wallet-friendly, making it a fantastic spot for a satisfying and budget-conscious meal.
It's clearly a beloved spot among locals of all ages,
as customers continuously flowed in while we dined. By the time we were ready to leave,
it was practically packed to the brim!
After fueling up, our next stop was Uniqlo.
While you might be a little disappointed if you're hunting for unique custom designs,
they have all the essential staples like multi-pocket shoulder bags, Heattech, Airism, and more.
And yes, tax-free shopping is, of course, available here!
Next up, we popped into GU for a quick browse.
Being part of the Uniqlo family, it has a very similar overall vibe and aesthetic.
Instead of ultra-trendy designs,
GU focuses more on comfortable, everyday essentials. We had a relaxed browse,
and ended up picking up a few pieces that fit within our tax-free limit.
We snagged a few basic tees,
and two cozy pajama sets to prep for winter.
GU pajamas are perfect for just throwing on and relaxing in!
Lopia
After finishing up our shopping at Yume Town,
we headed to Lopía to grab some late lunch and early dinner.
You can't come to Lopía and not get Lopía pizza.
It's delicious, and at around ~$3, you just can't pass it up.
As a liquor lover (or perhaps an alcoholic, strictly for Japanese trips? 😉),
I also picked out a few beers to enjoy back at the accommodation.
After finishing our shopping at Lopía,
we grabbed our pizza and beer and headed back to the accommodation.
We were so eager to eat once we got back to the accommodation that
I couldn't take any pictures of the food.
I had no idea I'd be blogging back then... I should have taken photos! 😭😭
After a delicious meal, to help with digestion,
we went out again to explore the Tenjin Underground Shopping Arcade.
The first place we passed was Imo Yakinjiro.
As expected, it's really popular, so if you go around 3-4 PM, it's always sold out.
I only eat freshly made items, so I wasn't too greedy about it.
We also stopped by Ball & Chain, famous for its eco-bags.
My friend, who recently became a mom, seems like she's going to become a "merchant" carrying a lot of things,
so I bought one for her as a gift.
Ringo Apple Pie, famous as a delicious spot in the Tenjin Underground Shopping Arcade.
I'm not usually a big fan of sweets,
but I can manage one, so I bought and ate one.
Salut!, famous for its home goods.
I was really tempted, but my suitcase was already full,
so I couldn't bring myself to buy any kitchenware in the end.
After about two hours of leisurely browsing,
we started to get a little hungry again.
Yakitori Makoto
After a brief moment of deliberation about where to go,
I remembered a yakitori place I'd been to before,
so we decided to revisit Makoto-chan.
Even with the sauce, it wasn't too salty; it was just right and really delicious.
The corn and shishamo (smelt) that I always order every time I come here.
I don't have plans to go to Fukuoka this year, but I'm going to miss them so much 😢.
Since I'd been satisfied with it before,
it was great to eat comfortably without much deliberation this time too.
It was also the perfect choice to wrap up the trip.
And so, we ended the day at the izakaya,
returning to our accommodation with reluctant steps.
Thus, the final night of our trip passed by.
DAY 7
On the morning of our last day,
we checked out of our accommodation and headed to Hakata Station.
It was the day we truly started preparing to go home,
and I felt a bit bittersweet.

My go-to spot whenever I return to Korea, Tenjin Horumon!
It might seem a bit heavy to eat first thing in the morning,
but once you've tried it, you'll change your mind because it's so delicious.
I ordered the large intestine and skirt steak combo,
and as a repeat customer, it was satisfying as always.
However, it's quite seasoned,
so those who don't prefer salty food might want to keep that in mind.
On the way to the airport,
And why was the weather *so* good?
It just made me want to leave even less.
After arriving at the airport and finishing check-in,
I headed straight for the duty-free shop.
After browsing the duty-free shops,
I had a bowl of Udon before leaving.
The beer and food extravaganza must continue until boarding the plane!
The end is always bittersweet, but I'm heading back well-fed and having had a blast.

(It's no secret that I was back again just a month later!)
You can get to Yume Town Hakata from Tenjin with just one bus ride. It's a great place for relaxed shopping as there are very few tourists, and it has most of the popular stores like Kaldi and Uniqlo.
Kaldi at Yume Town does not offer tax-free shopping, and there are no tax-free Kaldi stores in Fukuoka Prefecture. On the other hand, you can receive tax-free benefits at Uniqlo in Yume Town when purchasing basic items like Heattech or AIRism.
At Saizeriya, located in the Yume Town restaurant area, you can enjoy hamburger steaks and pasta for around ~$6. It's a cost-effective restaurant popular with locals due to its affordable prices.
After finishing your shopping at Yume Town, you can head to Lopia and purchase a Lopia pizza for around ~$3. It's very popular for being both delicious and affordable.
