Flights | ~$288 |
Accommodation | ~$181 |

Flights
We traveled over a busy weekend, and with fuel surcharges, flight tickets were slightly higher than usual. Because there wasn't a huge price difference compared to low-cost carriers, we opted for Asiana Airlines.
· Round-trip Flight: ~$288 per person
The flight time is only about 1.5 hours, making it incredibly accessible and perfect for a quick weekend getaway.

Accommodation Costs & Location Guide
Keep in mind that Fukuoka charges a local accommodation tax per person, per night.
Room Rate (Per Night) | Accommodation Tax (Per Person) |
Under 20,000 JPY | 200 JPY |
20,000 JPY or more | 500 JPY |
We stayed at a hotel in the Tenjin area, which cost about ~$359 for 2 nights (approx. ~$181 per person).
Tenjin is an ideal base for first-timers. It offers easy subway access and is incredibly close to convenience stores, shopping malls, traditional yatai food stalls, and drugstores.

Final Thoughts
Looking back at our 3-day Fukuoka travel costs, it is clear that shopping is the ultimate swing factor.
Without shopping, a budget of ~$570 per person is more than enough for a fantastic time. If you plan to stock up on skincare, fashion, and souvenirs, budgeting around ~$1,200 per person is a safer bet.
With short flight times and an incredibly accessible downtown area, Fukuoka remains one of the best hassle-free destinations for a quick weekend escape.
I hope this actual cost breakdown helps you plan your own budget effectively!
The Asiana Airlines ticket for the Incheon-Fukuoka route cost ~$288 per person. The flight time is about 1 hour and 30 minutes, making it great for a short trip.
The 2-night accommodation fee at a hotel in the Tenjin area was ~$179 per person. Fukuoka charges a separate accommodation tax; you must pay 200 JPY if the room rate is under 20,000 JPY, and 500 JPY if it is 20,000 JPY or more.
The airport is close to the city center, and most tourist attractions can be reached by subway or on foot, so transportation costs are relatively low. For this 3-day, 2-night trip, the transportation cost was ~$4 per person.
On this trip, we spent ~$647 on shopping, bringing the total cost to ~$1218 per person. Excluding shopping, a typical independent trip would cost ~$576 per person, which is more than enough.
