How to Get to Fukuoka Tower
There's no direct subway access to Fukuoka Tower; you can only reach it by bus or taxi. It takes about 25 minutes from Hakata Station and 20 minutes from Tenjin.
From Tenjin Station, you can take bus route 302 or W1. The fare is approximately ~$2, and Fukuoka Tower is the last stop, so you won't miss it!
Best Time for Night Views
I had the chance to experience both the sunset and the dazzling night view!
In early September 2026, sunset in Fukuoka is around 6:42 PM. I arrived at 6:30 PM, enjoyed the nearby beach, and then headed up to the observation deck at 7:10 PM.
Observation Deck Experience
The entrance to Fukuoka Tower is on the opposite side from Momochi Beach.
Simply show your booked voucher at the ticket counter, receive your admission ticket, and take the elevator up. A quick tip: there are no restrooms on the observation deck, so make sure to use them before you go up!
This photo was taken at 7:14 PM. It wasn't completely dark yet, so the sky still had a beautiful reddish glow.
From up here, you get a stunning 360-degree panoramic view, stretching from Momochi Beach right below to the entire Fukuoka cityscape.
Around 7:40 PM, it started to get completely dark, and the city lights truly began to sparkle!
There's a famous photo zone for the Sky Illumination, and a line usually forms for it. Don't worry if you're traveling solo; the staff are happy to take your picture!
Evening hours are the busiest, so the line can be long. I waited about 15 minutes for my turn.
You can't take the elevator directly down from the main observation deck. Instead, you'll go down one floor via stairs, where you'll find the 'Love Locks' area. You can purchase these locks from a vending machine, but remember, it's cash only!
Cafe
There's also a restaurant and cafe. I've heard reviews that the food isn't the best value, so I'd recommend sticking to drinks if you decide to visit.
After your visit, don't forget to browse the souvenir shop on the first floor!
Personally, I was incredibly satisfied with my visit. I highly recommend timing your trip to enjoy Momochi Beach around sunset, then heading up to the Fukuoka Tower observation deck for the magnificent night views!
