Fukuoka Tower
Looking for an easy outing in Fukuoka that promises genuinely impressive views? Fukuoka Tower is your spot. Honestly, I didn't arrive with sky-high expectations, but it turned out to be far better than I thought. I ended up staying from the afternoon right through until nightfall!
📍 Fukuoka Tower
2 Chome-3-26 Momochihama, Sawara Ward, Fukuoka, 814-0001 Japan
You'll find the tower at this location. To get there, you can catch bus 306 from Hakata Bus Terminal (look for Platform 6 on the first floor). Alternatively, take the subway to Nishijin Station (Exit 1) and enjoy a pleasant walk of about 15 minutes, which is roughly 0.75 miles. While you can certainly buy tickets on-site, it's usually much more convenient, and often cheaper, to book Fukuoka Tower tickets in advance. We'll dive into more details below.
Fukuoka Tower Observatory Views

A swift elevator ride brings you to the top. I noticed it was definitely quieter during the day compared to the evening. That's because the photo zones light up with stunning illuminations at night, offering spectacular night views. However, I personally found the daytime scenery quite lovely too! If catching the night view isn't your absolute priority, visiting during the day is a perfectly great option.

Looking towards the coast, you'll spot Momochi Beach. Perhaps it was just the perspective from above, but it seemed a bit smaller than I'd imagined.
Standing at around 768 feet (234 meters) tall, it's not the world's highest tower, but with the ocean on one side and the city sprawling on the other, the views are surprisingly captivating.

Head downstairs, and you'll discover a cozy cafe area. Here, you can grab anything from coffee to beer, or even a light meal. I took the opportunity to relax and catch up on some writing. Just a heads-up: after 6:00 PM, there's a table charge of 300 JPY, likely for the privilege of those gorgeous night views.
Fukuoka Tower Night View

Before I knew it, night had fallen. The sunset views were beautiful in their own right, but the nightscape truly is something special.

In the designated photo zone, the floor lights up with dazzling illuminations. Be prepared to wait your turn for a photo, especially at night (there was no queue during the day!).

As darkness settles, the exterior of the tower also lights up, changing colors and adding another layer of charm to the evening.
