Hello, explorers! It's Yappy here 🐰
In Fukuoka's Tenjin district,
I stumbled upon a brand new cafe
where you can enjoy coffee and pastries right from the morning!
From savory salt bread bursting with truffle aroma
to the super trendy Dubai chocolate,
I was so curious, I just had to try them myself!
To give you the lowdown first:
The salt bread? I'd happily eat it again!
The Dubai chocolate, however, was a bit of a miss for me.😂
Today, I'm sharing my honest review of
Truffle Bakery Tenjin Underground Shopping Arcade Branch,
a spot we visited ourselves!

Located in "Street 2" of the Tenjin Underground Shopping Arcade,
you can get there directly after getting off at Tenjin Station,
without even needing to go outside!
We actually arrived in Tenjin a little early that day
because the restaurant where we planned to have lunch
didn't open until 11 AM.

We arrived around 10 AM,
and decided to visit the bakery to kill some time and grab a coffee.
It was perfect that they were open bright and early!

🥐 Truffle-Infused Salt Bread

Once inside, I was surprised by the variety of breads on offer!
After much deliberation, I picked out a few different items.

Here's what we ordered:
✔️ Salt White Truffle Bread 324 yen
✔️ Sugar White Truffle Roll 335 yen
✔️ Golden Custard Cream 387 yen
✔️ Dubai Chocolate 507 yen
✔️ Iced Americano 495 yen

1. Salt White Truffle Bread
Among our selections, the one I was most excited about
was, naturally, the Salt White Truffle Bread.
When I tore it apart with my hands,
it split beautifully along the grain,
without any toughness at all.

The moment I took a bite, I could taste the savory flavor of butter
and the subtle truffle aroma rising up.
It was surprisingly delicious!
The outside was slightly crispy,
and the inside was moist and soft,
so if you love salt bread like I do, I highly recommend it! 🥐

2. Sugar White Truffle Roll

The Sugar White Truffle Roll bread
is only sold at this location, so I had to get it!
Like a Krispy Kreme donut, it has a glazed coating,
giving it a delightful sweet and salty charm!
It pairs perfectly with an Americano 👍
Overall, the truffle salt breads
seemed to be crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.
We really enjoyed this one too, haha!
3. Moist Golden Custard Cream

The custard cream bun
was generously filled with cream,
and perhaps because of the vanilla beans,
it tasted different from the custard I've had in Korea!

Overall, it had a strong resemblance to an egg tart,
so I recommend it to anyone who loves egg tarts!
4. Dubai Chocolate was honestly a bit disappointing
I was also curious about
so I ordered one Dubai Chocolate bun as well.

It said you could buy up to 3 per person, so
I wondered if it was a popular trending item and had high expectations.
My honest review is…
If it were me, I'd probably
buy another salt bread instead. 😂
It wasn't bad, but
instead of the moist Dubai chocolate I had imagined,
the texture was quite hard and crunchy.
When you take a bite, it goes "crunch!" and
it had a strong crumbly, cookie-like feel,
which was a bit disappointing for our taste.
The price was also 507 yen,
making it the most expensive item we ordered,
so it didn't quite meet my expectations.

So, my personal recommendations are:
Salt White Truffle Bread ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Dubai Chocolate ⭐⭐⭐
I think that sums it up!
💡When using cafes in Japan
Good to know!
While re-examining the receipt,
I also discovered a small Japan travel tip.
In Japan, when you buy food or drinks,
the consumption tax rate differs depending on whether you take it out or eat it in the store.
✔️ Takeout → 8%
✔️ Dine-in → 10%

We didn't realize this on the spot, but
looking at the receipt, there was a slight difference
from the menu prices.

If you plan to dine in,
it's good to know in advance that there might be a tax difference
when you pay!

If you want to enjoy bread and coffee from morning
in Tenjin Underground Shopping Center, or
If you're a fan of those incredibly aromatic truffle salt breads,
you absolutely have to pop into Truffle Bakery! 💗
